About the application:

This is the official COVID-19 contact tracing apk for Latvia, provided by SPKC, the local Centre for Illness Prevention and Control. Contact tracing is key to limiting the spread of COVID-19. This apk makes it available to any phone player in Latvia. The more residents use this apk, the more efficient it will be and assist stop the spread of the virus. It is safe and respects your privacy: * It doesn’t track your place. * It stores data on device only, and automatically deletes it after 14 days. * The apk does not record GPS data even if GPS is switched on. * If you select to provide a contact number, it will only be shared with SPKC and only if and when your contact with a COVID-19 case has been detected. SPKC will have access to the following data: smartphone number, contact date, signal strength, contact duration. What exactly does contact mean here? 15+ mins of up to ~2 m proximity to someone who also has this apk switched on, and this info is encrypted and stored on both phones. The apk will allow you know if you have come in contact with a COVID-19 case – without revealing the sender or the recipient. And it will equip you with knowledge what to do when that happens. The apk uses Bluetooth technology and Google’s Exposure Notification API to ensure privacy and safety.
