Australian Geology Travel Maps is a smartphone apk that operates offline in the field (ie. without a connection to the internet) and delivers interactive geology-terrain maps, old mine workings, gem, gold and metal places, quarries and geophysical imagery. For prospectors working in Western Australia, there is a 'WA prospector' subscription providing a tenements live/pending map, a gold deposits map, both updated regularly with DMIRS data, exploration drill holes, and a graticular blocks map for working with 40E permit places. Tap on a geology map, and info about the geology at that place is displayed. The geology, terrain, streets, rivers, lakes, towns, rural localities, contours, national parks, forestry reserves, indigenous reserves, and bush-walking tracks for the entire Australian continent are shown on the maps. David Higgins: This is the 1st apk that I know of to present the geology of Australia, and for that reason alone it's good! Simple to use and the pop-ups and images are very informative. The apk will definitely benefit from more detailed geology when it becomes accessible. I would suggest this apk to amateur and professional geologists.

Mike Bawlz: Installed, downloaded VIC geology, and then after tapping the map once and attempting to use on screen buttons, I'm presented with a screen saying I have to subscribe to use it any further. I didn't even receive 2 mins use out of this apk before lockdown. How on earth am I supposed to decide whether it's awesome enough to SUBSCRIBE to? ...and WHY subscription? You don't have servers you need to maintain. It's data downloaded once from ausgov's servers, processed on demand by the player device. A single payment model is suffice. In the brief time I actually used it I noticed the UX is unusable, downright painful. No feedback on functions, no apparent ability to turn off the TTS.... TTS is a very edge-case requirement, defaulting to a verbose "welcome" notice is unwarranted.
