AutoLocation is a Tasker plugin that lets you know when you're walking, in a car, cycling, standing still or tilting the device, or when you're in a certain geographical place or spot and react to that info any method you like! Geofencing is a fresh strong place algorithm provided by Google that lets you track your place with higher accuracy and lower power consumption than ever before. The fresh Android device Fuse Place Provider uses all your device's place sensors to give you the best place updates possible. No longer rely on just "Net" or "GPS" like in Tasker. Dragos Bajora: This plugin it's method much better than tasker place context. Also extra infos like speed, altitude, kind of movement and so...are good! Remember this plugin just use Google services to gain all those infos. The plugin itself it's a piece of art and works as intended. Also it is a WIP (work in progress).

Matt Dowdy: I owned a moto x for a while and really liked the auto detection of driving to have my messages read out to me whilst in the vehicle and with this apk I have managed to replicate its functionality albeit turning on svoice hands gratis mode. The apk reacted well within a min of getting in the vehicle and turned off vehicle mode within a couple of paces of me getting out of the vehicle. Now that I have the functionality that I was after I can spend time playing with another tasks incorporating autolocation.

Karl Wood: AutoLocation is good items, but you really do need to do your homework beforehand, instead of just diving in to the apk and Tasker. The trick is to have two circular fences around your target place, and increase the place sampling rate when you enter the outer one and decrease it when you enter the inner one. In this method you only burn battery when you approach your destination and need accurate fixes. I'm sure I have more to learn ...

André Srinivasan: Since I'm not willing to root my Pixel 2, I need to unblock my smartphone for a task to run. I was looking for a method to turn on airplane mode and Wi-Fi when I'm home for more reliable smartphone calls over Project Fi and then revert back to the mobile carrier when I leave home. I'm using AutoLocation to alert me when I leave the geofence around my home and @joaomgcd's another perfect Tasker plugin AutoInput to change my settings. And I have all the battery saving features in Tasker enabled as well as keeping Tasker as a battery optimized apk. Using AutoLocation is far more reliable than trying to use near Wi-Fi or near Cell and consumes less power than the geo fencing built into Tasker.

Paul Hurst: this geofence place /sensor activity monitoring plugin works good with Tasker. The developer responds immediately and is very helpful. A lot of tasks can now be automated based on geofence and/or activity detection.. like bluetooth off if I've finished driving and have started walking or have arrived at work geofence. The ability to activate and deactivate geofence detection and activity monitoring from within tasks will also save battery
