Marilyn Fishman: For casual or dedicated birding Search what birds have recently been seen wherever you are. Browse by place or species and view pictures and descriptions or hear calls. If you use eBIrd or Birdlog, watch your own observations appear in the website counts. Watch your life list grow!

Thomas Kallmeyer: Take your birding to the next level. Search those birds you haven't seen with ease. Access listing data in seconds while connected. Pull up info on any species with the correct add on. This apk rocks! Pair it with eBird and BirdLog and you'll be contributing to science. I see complaints about having to pay for add ons through subscription fees. Yes, the info is all out there already, etc., etc., but this apk puts it into an instantly accessible and highly useful format. The fees are insignificant compared to the benefits offered and they go to supporting citizen science anyway so I don't see the trouble. 5 stars!

Ryan Peters: Not Thrilled at the moment (Updated 12/12/14) I helped pay $20 towards the development for this apk and only now finding out its a monthly subscription doesn't create me very satisfied. Wasn't even notified about a paid monthly subscription for in-app features in any newsletter sent out. Would be nice if it were a one time purchase fee like iBird Pro or BirdLog NA and then full use of the apk. Does look nice on the Samsung Note 4 allowing for better maps viewing management. Updated Review: After working with the help squad for about a week after the apk released we were finally able to receive everything to sync and work properly. It took some work due to having a Samsung Note 4 with Verizon which had some restrictions due to running Verizon proprietary firmware on it. After the different updates released by Birds in the Hand the apk is running flawlessly for me and I'm really looking forward to using it on trips around the US come spring. Want to say a unique thank you to Drew Weber (help staff) who helped me work out all of the problems and got my acc working correctly. This apk is extremely useful and would highly suggest it to all birders. Look forward to future apks like this one from the Birds in the Hand squad.

Dan Tallman: A Bird Geiger Counter for Birders. This is basically a very slick apk for finding birds you need for your different lists, but a few caveats are in order: 1. The apk works in conjunction with eBird, so it really helps to have a gratis eBird acc. The apk alerts you to birds in your vicinity that you lack, but which have been reported at eBird hotspots. 2. The apk is “gratis.” BUT, in order to find for ALL the birds in your place (instead of the most common 50), you must invest in a monthly membership. This membership is cheap enough, only a few dollars per month—but the word “gratis” is a tad misleading. A membership for North American birds is $29.99 a year (another continents, or the whole globe, are accessible at extra cost). I suggest checking the apk out. This apk is almost like a bird Geiger counter for birders.
