About the application:

CarCheck makes it simple to record and auomatically retrieve data about vehicles and another cars. Simply snap a picture of the car registration plate and our ANPR/ALPR (automated number plate/license plate recognition) will quickly and accurately recognise and transcribe the registration code for you. You can then add info about each car (such as name of owner or make/model) to a list. The next time you encounter that car, CarCheck will recognise it and display all the details. The list of cars and associated info can be displayed, sorted in various methods, modified, and exported to another apks using the standard CSV (comma separated value) file format. Unlike another scanning apks, this one runs entirely on your Android device device without needing a network, so there are NO data charges or network delays whatsoever, and the number plates and photos you take do NOT have to be uploaded to any server. As well as handling awful and low lighting conditions, CarCheck also supports numerous formats of vehicle, motorcycle, and massive goods car plates, including personalised and some international (non-UK) number plates. Usage: (1) Keep your Android device device horizontally, making sure the camera is not obscured. Test to line up the car number plate such that it falls roughly within the green focusing rectangle. (2) Tap the camera icon on the screen to take a picture of the number plate. CarCheck will analyse the photo you took and recognise and display the registration code. The registration string will be displayed in green (high confidence), amber (medium confidence), or red (low confidence). You can simply hit 'return' to take the photo once more. There is also a button and settings option to create use of the flash or torch light (only effective at short distances). (3) If the car is already in your database, then info are displayed. Otherwise simply click the 'Add to list' button to add info about a car and add it to the database. (4) To take a fresh photo, simply press the 'back' button on your Android device device. (5) The name of the database CSV file can be configured via the 'Settings' menu. The file is stored on your SD card. To display or edit the list, tap the 'Lists...' button or select 'Manage Lists'. The list of car registration codes can be sorted and displayed using various criteria.
