Need for Speed (NFS) is a racing video mini game franchise published by Electronic Arts and currently developed by Ghost Mini games. The series centers around illicit road racing and in general tasks users to complete different types of races while evading the local law enforcement in police pursuits. The series released its first title, The Need for Speed, in 1994. The most latest mini game, Need for Speed Payback, was released in 2017. The Need for Speed series was originally developed by Distinctive Tool, a video mini game studio based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Prior to Electronic Arts' purchase of the company in 1991, it had made famous racing mini games such as Stunts and Try Drive II: The Duel. After the purchase, the company was renamed Electronic Arts (EA) Canada. The company capitalized on its experience in the domain by developing the Need for Speed series in late 1992.[4] EA Canada continued to develop and expand the Need for Speed franchise up to 2002, when other Vancouver-based gaming company, named Black Box Mini games, was contracted to continue the series with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.[5] EA Black Box has been the basic series developer on a yearly cycle from 2002-08. In 2009, EA brought in Slightly Angry Studios, due to sagging sales, and they released Need for Speed: Shift, and EA's own UK-based company Criterion Mini games came with Hot Pursuit in 2010. In 2011, Slightly Angry Studios released a sequel to Shift, Shift 2: Unleashed and EA Black Box released The Run. Need for Speed: No Limits is a free-to-play racing video mini game for iOS and Android device, and a mobile installment in the Need for Speed video mini game series, developed by Firemonkeys Studios and published by Electronic Arts.[1] It is the twenty-first installment in the franchise, the franchise's second free-to-play title (after Need for Speed: Globe), as well as the franchise's first original title created for mobile devices, unlike past mobile mini games in the series that were adaptations or companions of different Need for Speed mini games. It was released on September 30, 2015.[2][3] Need for Speed: No Limits has a massive focus on road racing, car customization, and avoiding the police.[2][4] The user must race in "Campaign races" (which is considered the game's story mode), "Vehicle Series races" (where only certain vehicles may participate to victory in-game rewards) and "Rival Races".
