CASA Alerts is a multi-purpose mobile apk developed by the CASA Engineering Research Center (http://www.casa.umass.edu/main/research/urbantestbed/research/), led by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, aimed at improving user-centric, context-aware severe weather forecasts and warnings. The CASA Mobile apk delivers weather info and/or surveys to players on mobile phones to improve our understanding of the best methods to deliver weather info for thunderstorms, tornados, hail, high winds and floods. Apk functionality and player experience varies depending on the player. · CASA WX players: CASA collaborates with the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the National Weather Service to bring detailed, rapidly updating radar data to North Central Texas through the CASA WX tool. Cities and towns that help CASA WX keep severe weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service, hyper-local alerts derived from CASA radar data, Understory sensors, and local storm spotter reports, based on player preferences for alerting, and places of interest. We periodically request feedback from players in the form of mobile smartphone surveys. · Another players: These participants keep surveys that discover individual’s perceptions of severe weather risks. Various players may keep various types of weather info, and some may not keep any weather info at all so we can learn about what people currently use for severe weather info.
