However "Waiting for place from GPS" hangs forever even after choosing Datum closest to my put. A recommendation: let manual & selective clearing of Bearings. Normally the first one is for the reference direction which I wish to hold. A brief manual would be useful too

A Google user: Ellegant, practical, and all I should want for in a compass apk. I especially like the sighting arrangement for taking a bearing, and with the bonus ver the ability to present GPS position and bearing on the same screen. The developer is responsive and helpful. On my Nexus 4 I've found the magnetic field sensor a bit flaky, to the point where I wouldn't believe any form of compass without a "sanity check" from GPS, a map or local knowledge, plus frequent "figure 8" calibration. But within that limitation, this is a really nice compass.

A Google user: Bought this apk because it does not request any unique permissions like another gratis compass (e.g. some need smartphone access! - do not install them!). It can use the declination from the GPS or you can set it manually, and you can set a few targets to point to. Still a few improvements I would like: - The labels E/S/W/N etc. are a tiny hard to find/read since they are in little letters and in the same colour as the whole bearing. A various colour (white labels in the holo dark blue theme would do it). - The GPS accuracy is shown in feet. Would be nice to see this value in meters. Nothing else I would change.
