"Come on, sweetheart," Lily coaxed, holding out a spoonful of the medicine that was supposed to cure his ailment. "It's necessary to take this medicine so you can feel better." But Alex was having none of it. He pulled away, a stubborn pout forming on his lips. "I don't wish medicine, Mom. It tastes yucky!" Lily sighed, her heart aching for her child's discomfort. She knew she required to think of a method to create this process more engaging. Inspiration struck her, and she came up with a creative idea. "Alex," Lily said with a playful smile, "what if we turn this into a mini game? You're on a quest to collect coins and power-ups to hold your health bar above zero, just like in your favorite video game." Alex's eyes widened with interest. "A mini game? Like an adventure?" "Yes, exactly! Here's the deal," Lily explained. "Every time you take a spoonful of medicine, you earn a coin. And if you finish the entire dose, you receive a power-up to create you even stronger versus the cold." Sometimes, they'd pretend the medicine was a magical potion that would assist Alex conquer a mythical beast (the cold virus).
