In the main story Android device 16 will play a prominent role - having mysteriously been revived, along with a "mysterious troops" of Super Androids who look like the Z Warriors, and then the Z Warriors are taken down left and right.[3][4] Android device 21, an all-new female hero, will also play a role in the story.[5] There are three story scenarios: the Super Fighter Arc where Goku is the main hero, the Opponent Fighter Arc where Frieza is the main hero and the Android device 21 Arc, where Androids 18 and 21 are the main heroes. Each arc features a related but somewhat various story. The main plot of the mini game is revealed in the Android device 21 Arc. The stories of this mini game occurs sometime after the Universe 6 Saga story-line but before the "Future" Trunks Saga. This is shown by Bulma and Android device 18 appearing as they did in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and its anime adaption Golden Frieza Saga, while Goku and Vegeta are wearing their regular gi/armor. Gohan also notes that Frieza had returned before the happenings of the mini game and Vegeta mentions that Gohan has recently begun training under Piccolo once more but has not yet shown the results of his training. Sorbet, although he never appears in the story, is depicted with five fingers in the graphic that shows when his Awful Ring Laser attack is triggered when Frieza wars. This is something the minor antagonist displayed only through the anime adaptation, while his official design only had four fingers in the original film, as well as its limited manga release. Frieza mentions Piccolo's sacrifice to save Gohan from him, Gotenks when asked by Frieza about Future Trunks, claimed that he doesn't know him and Piccolo is amazed that he has to squad up with Frieza, something he thought would never happen. When talking with Cell, Goku notes that he has never been to Hell before. In the Super Fighters Arc, when rescuing Awesome Buu, Goku notes that Buu is just as asleep as he was during the written try needed to participate in the Competition of Destroyers. The another heroes in the beginning of the Super Fighters Arc react as if this is the first time that Goku has his body possessed by someone else. Peace has returned to Earth following the war with Beerus the God of Destruction in the previous film, while the deceased Frieza is trapped in a cocoon in Hell being tormented by the Angels of Hell. With their power dwindling due to the absence of their leader, the remnants of Frieza's troops are led by an alien named Sorbet, who decides to revive their master. He then sets off to Earth with one another minion, Tagoma, where they convince Emperor Pilaf, Mai, and Shu, who have collected the Dragon Balls to allow them summon Shenron instead. As Shenron is unable to fully revive Frieza, he brings him back to life in pieces, and his minions place him together using their advanced technology. Shu uses Shenron's second want for a million zeni, which irritates Sorbet (as he had been planning on reviving Lord Cold as well) but he allows Pilaf's gang to live, and both squads go their separate methods. As soon as Frieza's body is regenerated, he emerges in his first form and announces to his soldiers that he will not be happy until Goku and Future Trunks have both been killed. Tagoma suggests to Frieza that he could just ignore Goku and the another Saiyans. Irritated, Frieza throws Tagoma out of the spaceship. Sorbet informs Frieza that they haven't been able to locate Future Trunks in all this time and that Goku's power has surpassed that of even Majin Buu, which is far more than Frieza should have ever imagined. But due to him being a prodigy, Frieza states that through a few months of serious training, he will be able to unblock his dormant power and would be able to wipe out the Saiyans in the blink of an eye.
