A: I contently get scores in the upper 90's now; usually average 98 points during a shift. To do this, you literally have to drive like a grandma. Without Drivosity, I would also never speed, and never over 5 mph over the limit, but I admit I would accelerate, brake, and turn faster than Drivosity likes. In a zippy little Nissan Sentra, it's hard to keep from doing that. So, when driving with Drivosity, you have to constantly use your cruise control. If you tap the brakes, and disengage cruise control, use the return to speed feature. Even from a dead stop. I use the cruise control to accelerate. When you brake, you have to start early and barely push with your big toe to keep from getting points off.

A: Overall, I find that having to use Drivosity has not improved my driving; it's been over 10 years since my last ticket or accident. If anything, it's made my driving worse because: 1) I'm doing the tricks listed above; and, 2) by using cruise control on local roads, I am paying as much attention to speed and have my foot away from pedals (makes one relax, not as alert.)

A: There are a few tricks I have learned to help keep from getting points off. However, keep in mind to do them, you are breaking the traffic laws. First, you have to watch the red lights ahead and try to time it to make is through without stopping once. At times, I enter the intersection on a yellow light. Since people in Texas drive faster than most, I often need to drive on the shoulder of the road to slowly get up to speed. When turning, you need to turn like you are driving a race car at any speed. This means you start as far as possible from the inside of the curve, turn towards the inside, and then swing as far out to the other side as you come out of the curve. When at a stop sign in a small neighborhood (say 20 to 25 mph, and no cops), I rarely stop anymore. I'll do a California roll, Oklahoma stop, whatever you call it. But point is that if you come to a full stop, you have a chance to get two points off (braking and Acceleration).
