DSO Planner is an astronomy observation planning program with perfect star charting capabilities created by active and experienced amateur observers with a passion for visual observations. It has really big integrated deep sky objects databases and provides an occasion to make any number of player own object databases. DSO Planner boasts the biggest star catalog among all Android device astronomy apks (USNO UCAC4, 113 mn stars). A Google user: good apk. loving the reach of catalogs and dss data. can it have 1. rectangular field of view overlay with rotation capability? Since apk can download dss photos, it w'd be good program for framing the astrophotos if such a camera fov can be overlaid. 2. Dss photos when added additional few contours adjoining or rather around that 9 photo field to have even more coverage of really big object photos e.g. objects like IC 1396..the contours hav type of gaps possibly due to curvature of sky. Can this be avoided?

A Google user: I have upgraded my rating. The find function still does not fully help the UCAC4 star catalog. It does now help asteroid updates for the player, in mass via an modernize function. At least it is more player friendly. The storage now allows moving really big expansion files to an SD card. Thanks.

Jeremy Koecher: This apk is exactly what I wanted for my astrophotography toolkit. Good starcharts with dss and framing overlays. Large object list using just about every database I've ever heard of (and a few I hadn't). Customizable filters for magnitude limits, size in arc seconds, and object types to create finding my targets even easier. Highly suggested for anyone into deep sky objects.

The DSS images download for each DSO makes for a good live viewing experience and after observations to browse through its endless content is very satisfying and gives you the feeling that you are still observing from the comfort of your armchair. Olav Norrud: Have tried it a couple of times, but hold reverting to complete PC-planners like SkyTools and DSP, then transfer plans to the much more smooth SkySafari. That's not optimal either, but best. Can't receive why someone would create a planner like this without honoring tablets. Could also install to SD-card, yes can be done. Will watch it though, still the best 'true' planner for Android device.

Marvin W. Huddleston FRAS: This is more a question than review. after purchase I still receive the 'Sorry this function is only accessible in paid editions.' How do I fix this? One thing I dont like is the notes function. When choosing a Messier object it lists them with their NGC designation. Needs to list both.
