The VTE Prophylaxis apk includes an executive summary of the recent 2018 European suggestions for perioperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis from leading European medical associations. The apk summarizes all perioperative VTE prophylaxis rules for various types of patients and surgical settings including obese patients, pregnant patients, the elderly, neurosurgical patients, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery patients, intensive care patients, patients with coagulation disorders or treated with antiplatelet agents, and patients undergoing day surgery procedures. Three controversial subjects are also addressed, including the use of aspirin, inferior vena cava (IVC) filters, and mechanical prophylaxis. The apk was designed to create these medical rules easily available at the point of care.
