This is an apk for detecting and monitoring wildfires. The apk sends you a notification when a fire/hotspot has been detected by satellite-based systems within a geographic region that you choose. QUICK START: Begin apk and tap on "Fires near me" Fire/hotspot alerts are based on info from the VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) I-Band 375 m Active Fire Data product published by NASA's Fire Info for Resource Management System. To use the apk, first you define the place you're interested in by choosing an place on a map. Then the apk starts monitoring that place, and you receive a notification when a fire/hotspot is detected within your place. Regular monitoring continues even when the apk is not currently in use. This apk uses the VIIRS 375m active fire product, which is in its first release. Its active fire algorithms are still being refined by the NASA VIIRS science squad, which investigates data problems such as omissions and false alarms. NASA reports that the current data is considered awesome enough quality for use in fire management apks.
