  Seth B.: Unbelievable! This could be part of the stock Android device options! I can't trust how long I've had to live with pulling down the notification tray twice every time I wish to adjust brightness. This not only eliminates that need, but it allows me to look at the actual page while the brightness is changing. Interestingly, this always-on slider has been part of the Nook/Kobo/Kindle e-book reader UI for years. I'm not sure why we have to pay for a separate tool to receive this feature, but I'm glad that this one exists and was satisfied to pay the $0.99.

It's easy to use, has good functionality, and has a attractive interface! Its dim option also functions as a separate apk I have to lower the brightness even more than normal! Love it!

  A Google user: I used an overlay dimmer apk for 4 years now and today I opened up a power consumption apk and dimming the screen did NOT change the power being used. I have an electrical engineering background and this created no sense. It's not like a light is turned on and there is just a gray piece of plastic over top of it reducing the light coming through like sunglasses. The pixels are actually dimmer and could use less power. Anyhow, I downloaded this apk and dimming the screen reduced power consumption by up to three times, although allowing the apk to go into "negative brightness values" did not noticeably reduce power consumption values any more. A phone's or tablet's display is by far the largest drain on a battery's life, so this is a large advantage in addition to quickly adjusting the brightness while using any apk without swiping down, adjusting and swiping back up once more. The apk is stable so far unlike the another apk that would crash every time while in Firefox and a few another apks, returning the screen to full brightness (very annoying). I usually utilize gratis apks, but this was worth the $.99 to me and no I don't know the developer ☺.

  vik dia: Awesome apk. Just has a couple of niggles which are probably limited to my device. Abruptly stops working on my Oneplus X. The brightness bar is non responsive if the width is set to 1%. One thing I would *LOVE* to see in the next modernize is an opacity setting for the brightness bar, related to the opacity setting of the indicator. *EDIT*: Opacity can be changed via the background colour feature. Thanks for pointing that out!

  Garrett Krutilla: I had an apk that did exactly this on other smartphone, but it seems to have been removed from the play shop. Glad I found this replacement - an on-screen brightness control is a good thing to have. Good options accessible too! My only request to the developer would be to let the negative brightness to cap out at negative 100% for the times when players might wish the screen to be full dark while an apk is still running, to save battery on OLED screens.

  jacqui moysey: So far so awesome. The bar has disappeared a couple of times, but hopefully it will stay place now that I've allowed the apk to run in background (and locked in tasks/recents). I would like to recommend rounded corners for the bar, as this would be more aesthetically pleasing!

  Ragnar Ekre: Perfect idea. However, doesn't works well in locked landscape screen rotation. Also can't search a singe spot on the screen for this feature, I use all the screen, meaning I accidentally hits the trigger and scroll a lot. Perhaps a finger gesture trigger would be preferable for me.

(android device 8.0) edit : thanks for the answer, but disabling battery optimization DID NOT solve the trouble. i have no third party apks that closes other apk. also, how about making an option to disable the double tap to reposition. i hold triggering that sometimes while i never need that feature.

  KaTT T: Apk is easy to install, easy to set up, and actually works. My one recommendation is to add a delay of 50 to 1000 milliseconds when touching the bar, before it activates and allows adjustments, so it won't interfere with the using of another apks. Because i am Constantly turning it off and on once more, which is Really Irritating, so it won't do that. Apk kept interfering so badly with another apks that i should no longer take the frustration and shut it off! FIX!
