  Conor Kusich: First time using the apk we won 2nd put in a tournament and that was beautiful cool. I think it is a unbelievable platform for designers like myself to immerse themselves in projects outside of work for some sort of compensation. It personally gave me a purpose to place my hand on paper and think creatively.

  Rob Vince: On one hand, it seems like it's not such a awful idea to take a couple of product ideas with uncertain demand and crowdsource the design on the cheap as a type of contest in case something turns out to be viable. Though I don't know. If I had an idea for a assassin temperature-regulating portable cup or the grocery delivery receptacle that every modern household needs, then maybe a possibility at a couple thousand bucks and some "visibility" are all I should realistically receive for it. Shouldn't I just go patent that though? On the another hand, it type of feels like blowing up the R&D unit by claiming it's just a hobby you should receive creative people to do for fun. Though there should be some large picture aspect of the FirstBuild/GE/Haier relationships that I don't understand. Another points: Not sure why the apk is built around it's own social network - guess it provides a second hook in addition to gamification. On a positive note, some of the non-contest challenges are fun to think about, so I'll give a star for that. Overall, I have mixed feelings and feel very uncertain about what the real purpose of this apk is.
