About the application:

HP 49G+ 50G emulator for android. YOU NEED TO LOAD THE ROM FROM INTERNET TO FULLY USE THIS CALCULATOR, see later in the description how to do that. - Full memory, port 0, 1 and 2. - ROM 2.15 help (you have to download it yourself, see explanations) - Automatic save and load of state (ram and flash). - HP49G+ like skin or HP50G like skin. - Landscape or Portrait mode. - Multi touch keyboard help, permits 'shift' down while pressing other key (ON+C, even ON&UP ... are fine). - Load/save to/from stack level 1 help (only object in IRAM). - Speed from x1 upto x10 (max depend on your android device device. - HP82240 compatable printer as serial printer (touch right part of calc lcd) (in PRTPAR, set length of line as 23 or 24 heroes, default is 80 producing awful formatting). - Flags assist, full commands assist (I hope so) (touch left part of calc lcd). - Clock synced with android device time (Timers emulated, clock and ticks are fine). - Smooth hardware scrolling emulated. - Could work with at least 800x480 screen. - BEEP command help (keyclick is not well emulated). (broken on android device 4.3 see http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=58113) To load the rom: 1 - Download a rom make batter (i.e : HpCalc.org, entry named ROM2.15, use Google with "hp4950v215.zip", the official HP name for the file upgrade). 2 - Extract the file named 2MB_215f.bin (from 2MB_FIX.zip) if wish to have the full installation (with eqlib and all). 3 - Extract the file named 4950_215.bin if you wish only the rom (flash port 2 empty). 4 - Place this file in the 'download' directory of your device (to be sure, you can send the file to yourself by mail and download the .bin from your mail apk on your android device device). 5 - Begin the apk, a permission to access files can be demanded, let it. 6 - If the screen stay black. Slay the apk in the apk manager and reset it. 7 - The rom could be loaded and the calc could ask you to "recover memory". Answer NO with F6 key. 8 - Otherwise a black lcd screen means that the rom was not found, use 'about' in 'menu' to see if you got a rom or not. 9 - Don't test another roms as the rom is patched at the first load. To load a file: 1 - the first time, do "menu", "program", "load on stack", and abort, this will make the right directories 2 - then download (from http://www.hpcalc.org/ for example) the raw file you wish to load and place it in 'sdcard/go49gp/files' with a file manager (i.e. Linda manager or Ghost commander) 3 - on kitkat device import/export is now at /Android/data/o2s.emul.hp49gp/files instead of /go49gp 3 - next do "menu", "program", "load on stack" your file could appear, select it 4 - as told by the pop up, now press 'ON' key to refresh stack display 5 - et voilà, your file is loaded on the stack, now do what you wish with it 6 - if you don't know what to do with it, receive and read an HP49 manual ! Actually: - no arm help - no hp sd card help - no grayscale help. - serial only as printer. Avoid checking 'force gpu rendering' in developer option in android device 4.x prefs, this leads to graphic problems. On S5 devices, long press the right hardware button to receive the menu.   • A Google user: This calculator was JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL. You should do everything just like the original. And for a moment, there was little trouble with depending on Android's long-gone menu option. But now, it's fixed, and I am VERY, VERY PLEASED. BTW, I use this every day and have noticed true improvements in stability and personality - even when my low-level assembly programming manages to throw a wrench into things. SUPERLATIVE WORK!!

  • A Google user: The bugs associated with the assist menu are gone. The apk now no longer depends on a bottom menu key which some Androids do not help. Unlike Emu48 Port 2 is fully functional. FMAN.BIN can be used to organize the Port2 banks. pfree can be used as a viewer and STOBANK can be used to choose the BANK. This apk needs an modernize to create the printer more useful. Right now it has serious bugs in the printer. Also as some Androids are fickle a quit option could be added to the Settings menu.

  • A Google user: I am an a 49G+ owner who was satisfied enough with it and never upgraded to the superior 50G. This is an good emulation for my fresh Galaxy Note 10.1. Downloading and installing the ROM is simple, and the emulator behaves precisely as the true thing. I am an amateur SysRPL programmer and look forward to getting the libraries and tool over the smartphone to run them with blazing speed. Olivier's emulators along with Free42 inspired my long overdue purchase of an Android device smartphone, and so far I am not in the least disappointed. As an aside, much kudos to Google Play for processing a refund. I download go49g originally and realized the next day that this one was the one I really wanted. Google processed my refund request in mins. Crazy! Look forward to further tweaks and refinements from Olivier.

  • A Google user: Recently upgraded to help Android device 5 & 6. Note: This.app does not help ARM code. However, almost everything, especially on the Player RPL level is Saturn code. It will help extable, Jazz and the very strong Emacs library. Too use Deep Restart: Choose Actions -> Deep Restart . The apk will exit. Go to Settings -> Apks and click Force stop. Reopen the apk and the calculator will reset. Avoid Hard Restart. Use Deep Restart instead. It work if you stop the apk after it quits.

  • A Google user: Thus is the absolute best calculator of all time. Use this apk a lot of times per day. Emulation has been rock solid. Prefer it to the actual calculator. Also like it better than the actual hp prime, ti89, or wolfram alpha on the smartphone. For some tricky items sometimes use maxima on the smartphone. Runs awesome on my s4 also. Only thing I use more for regular rpn math is my wp-34s. If you don't know what wp-34s is and you like hp calcs do a fast Google. UPDATE also works ok on moto x pure running marshmallow too. UPDATE 10/2017. Does not work on OREO.

  • Norman Brenner: An perfect simulation of the peerless 49g/50g calculator. It runs at a much higher speed than the physical unit, and contains an outline documentation of the commands. The only major missing feature is the lack of simulation of port :3: for even more storage.

  • A Google user: Please turn off haptic feedback and modernize the skin to high resolution. I have haptic feedback disabled on my smartphone yet the calculator keeps buzzing. It appears that the recent upstate may have fixed the key up/down problems, but the random lockup seems to happen when the clock is enabled under display settings.

  • A Google user: First, in the calculator, do not enable 'display clock': this will lead to random crashes, but when disabled, you'll have no problems. Second, there is no method to disable haptic feedback in the apk. Edit: v1.1.10 is erratic. V1.0.8 works better.

  • A Google user: It is a very nice HP 49+ and HP 50g emulator but with two flaws: cramped keyboard in vertical layout and VERY annoying trouble with missing keypresses on faster typing (faster, not super fast).It can't be solved by KEYTIME settings. Because of issues with keypress registration I rate otherwise 5 star application with only 3 stars.

  • A Google user: There's definitely a timing trouble with the up/down arrow keys where sometimes the screen doesn't receive updated. You search it when navigating the stack or any list kind selection box such as the flags or the numeric display mode. Count the no. of key presses and you end up with the correct effect, it's just that the screen hadn't been updated correctly. Trouble is device dependent, much worse on nexus 7 than HTC desire X so I guess processor speed must be an problem. Another than that, it's a 50G!
