Horror in the Darkness is a short exploration and puzzle solving journey mini game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, where users discover and investigate, putting together clues and solve puzzles to uncover the secrets of Wentsire Manor. It is a mobile smartphone adaption of the classic text-based journey genre, related to the point-and-click classics. The mini game combines a bleak environment and an sense of underlying dread with moments of comedy to hold you entertained. New back from the horrors of Globe Fight 2, our protagonist was working as a personal investigator. Not hugely successful, but it paid the bills. Mostly. But when the widow of his old mate required his assist nothing should have prepared him for the bizarre and uncanny happenings that were about to unfold. Horror in the Darkness Redux is an extended and remastered ver of the critically acclaimed original mini game. Original content has been adapted to use the recent features of the Horror series, such as manual save and an easily available map button. Leigh Delo: The only down side to this fresh age improved ver was not realizing -or the mini game not indicating- if certain things are manual or battery powered. But because of how the controls work trial and error are your best mate and best tactic.

Taylor Messer: As a fanatic of Lovecraft and text based puzzle mini games, I have to say that this is by far one of the best apks I've had the pleasure to experience. The story is intelligent and fits right in to the Lovecraftian horror/suspense theme. I really enjoyed it and ended up downloading all of the another mini games right after finishing :)

A Google User: Fun interactive story that can be completed in a couple hours. I want the backstory had been more detailed, but nonetheless I was entertained.

Christine: Short but worth the time. I did make batter because hey, $0.99 to quick travel and help the developer is a bargain. Like the another reviewers, I would have liked the ending to be more drawn out as it did feel abrupt. I also feel like the puzzles were logical and fit the context well, a large plus in my opinion. I will be playing more by this developer.

ceri jones: Redux had a few additional steps and I enjoyed the do-over

Zed Zedder: Kept me occupied for a couple of hours. The choices I had to create were mostly logical and the descriptions suggestive enough. But I felt like something is missing. The story line felt somewhat dry. It should include more detail about the heroes to create me a bit connected to them and consequently, to immerse myself in the mini game play a lot deeper. I wouldn't mind paying for a sequel if it would be more ebook like.

Henry Rauhanen: A bit short but extremely engaging mini game with a awesome amount of suspense and mystery. Definitely worth my time.

John Schroeder: Skip the original (no offense Karmic) and receive the Redux ver. Totally worth the cash, even if you already have the old ver. Horror in the Darkness oozes with Lovecraftian atmosphere and classic text journey goodness, and with the updates, upgrades, and additions, it may very well be my favorite in this series.

evan grumling: It was fun but really short, finished it in an hour or so.

mussante: Pro: There are enough options that doing things at random is impractical - it gives a feeling that you really do have to figure things out a bit. Con: One of the bedrooms was a tiny difficult... Required a tip, but it was provided. Well done mini game

Rebecca Calixte: It was time consuming and frustrating at times, but that's what created the mini game so good. I should receive mad, walk away, come back, and create a discovery that changed the mini game. I highly suggest this to people who like a challenge and thinking outside the box.

Maxx Garcia: Only thing I didn't have fun was the abrupt ending. It just type of happened. I also had a lot of stuff I never used? I'm not sure if I missed some items or if it is just there to mislead. Edit: just read the responses to another reviews. I see they are there to misslead. That is awesome.

SETxAPART: So I've now completed both the standard AND the Redux versions. The Redux added a tiny more length to the original story while not making changes to any key components required in the original, so that's a plus. Look for any additions to places you think you're familiar with, however. I found myself temporarily stuck toward the end of the game(and I'm stubborn about NOT using the "Tip" button), but simply had to revisit an old place that had an added "object" of use. The only minor complaint was for the "cavern" place. It stated the "monster" was in the "far corner" of the place, but didn't indicate which direction, and there was a North, East, and South option that wasn't mentioned in the opening paragraph. I was forced into a guessing game(again - NO tip button for me) of which direction to go compared to the descriptive layouts offered in previous places stating what was in which direction(similar to the "lake" place where you knew where NOT to walk yet). Was I secure to try the East door not mentioned, or could I turn around altogether, or check my inventory, but that's for perfectionists. One door was testable without a death, and without use of inventory yet, but it was a total trial and error. Overall, decent make batter, and will consider Innsport.

Andrew Nichols: I enjoyed this mini game very much. The puzzles were rewarding and fun, and the atmosphere was excellent for the story it tells. Part of why the atmosphere works so well is the perfect song that sets the mood for the entire mini game. It never got old because it fit so well. If I should I would buy that song and play it while I run sessions of Call of Cthulhu. I am really looking forward to playing the rest of this series.

Cathie Vishnevsky: As someone who used to play Zork on a Commodore 64--yes, in the Dark Ages--this is a blast from the past! Various story, obviously, and with the unbelievable addition of a map and words to click on. And the melody, definitely play the background melody. Superbly done, liking it very much! Can't wait to continue, and looking forward to Innisport, having recently read a very awesome horror story by HP Lovecraft himself set in that horror filled city. Ooh! My spine is tingling!
