  Dan Lewis: HyperRogue is a staggering, genius mini game. Do not be fooled by its humble appearance. This is no ordinary lamp. Like another mini games in the roguelike neighborhood, your sense of progress in this mini game is not measured by a gradually more strong save file, but by the learning process that occurs in a failure, death, and retry loop. Also like its genre, you have the benefit of unlimited thinking time, and the mini game even helpfully forbids you from making easy mistakes. The things that slay you are complicated mistakes. The genius of this mini game is, first, in its hyperbolic landscape. The user begins with very awful intuitions about its nature. It branches in unlimited chance. Second, in its difficulty. As the user succeeds by collecting treasure and unlocking orbs of power, more opponents spawn and the user must deal with emergent awful situations. Third, in its dozens. As the user masters an environment and its guidelines, the mini game unlocks more environments with more complicated guidelines. Every environment plays with the hyperbolic landscape in various methods. HyperRogue's easy graphics and presentation belie its extremely gamey systems, putting almost nothing between the user and the systems. When you matter the traditional mini game, there are a lot of more modes to master. I would test the non paid ver to see how you like it, then buy this one for more frequent updates and achievements.

  Unbelievable mini game, my favourite roguelike, truly special. Only problem is I can't click on things in my inventory to examine or drop them, it just opens the pause menu. This would be fine but I can't drop the dead orbs as navigational aids!

  Ryan Geary: Good, addicting rogue like that's very simple to pick up. Mini game is based on a chess match style play rather than grinding for statistics, making mini games latest longer the more you learn about the guidelines of the globe. Would highly suggest if you're looking for a special rogue to play.

  Nina Dawson: Far too addictive! Brilliant mini game, and attractive too. Tried the gratis one first, but couple of quid for the pay for ver is worth it especially for the creature sounds - 1, because they alert you that baddies are near and 2, because they're quite funny. So awesome that it's the first time I've felt compelled to review a mini game!

  Tristan Parker: Still good, keeps getting better This mini game has roughly doubled its content since it first blew my mind more than a year ago. It's a tactical dungeon crawler that makes unbelievable use of its bizarre geometry to make a lot of various challenges. The globe is well fleshed-out, a strange alien globe that plays by its own guidelines and sees you as an intruder. Between the various versions (pc and android device across a few updates) I have played well over a hundred hours and it just keeps getting better.

  Matthew H: OMG HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW. PLEASE FIX. I BEG YOU.... In portrait mode, if I tap "MENU" twice the mini game will reset!! That's because the reset option on the menu happens to be lined up with the menu button itself. And the mini game doesn't even ask you to confirm you wish to reset!! What an infuriating method to lose your progress in a mini game that has no saving (I like the no-saves feature but PLEASE protect us from accidental restarts.)
