Hank Black: Nice apk You can see a bunch of pictures of birds from which you can choose one, or you can kind in a find phrase. I typed "owl". and it returned a list of owls with their pictures. Choosing one of the listed owls allowed me to see were info about it including a bigger picture of it, its range, jump to a Wikipedia article about it and to receive calls for the chosen bird. All of this info stored locally on my cellphone so it doesn't matter if I don't have awesome reception where I'm using the apk.

Not sure of what bird you are hearing or seeing? It gives you a list of related birds to assist you accurately identify your birds. I love it!

A Google User: Was excellent until the modernize I search it extremely annoying that when I accepted and installed the modernize (Aug 2012) I now have to re-download the entire iBird library & tool, which means I have now also lost all of my notes and favorites. What's the point? CORRECTION: JUST DOWNLOADED THE UPDATE AND MY FAVORITES WERE UNHARMED, HOORAY! So, updating my rating back to five stars!

Jeff Young: The improvements over time have allowed me to modernize the rating for this from a 3 to a solid 5 as of 5/7/17. I love this apk! Original review: I really like this apk, but even on my Motorola Atrix HD it takes 30 seconds to load and that is a tiny too long. I see that others are having the same trouble. At least on my smartphone the apk is still usable, but what I end up doing is leaving the apk begin so it doesn't take the long load time. Also, it would be nice to force the database to load to my SD card. I still have plenty of internal storage right now, but that won't latest forever. And while we're on the topic of improvements it would also be good to have the capability to use it to enter sightings for multiple places and then print these as reports. Finally, it would be perfect to have a rare bird alert feature so that you can hold track of what has been sighted near where you are birding. The Audubon Birds Field Tutorial apk has this capability which is why they also got some of my cash.
