  A Google user: No. Scratch that. I've just tried re-installing it for the third time and this time it's working! I did have other modernize from Lenovo yesterday, and perhaps that fixed it? Who knows? Reading the i newspaper now. So, while I will leave my comments about it not working visible, they are no longer correct, now working on the Yoga Ebook (with an Intel processor).The trouble for me isn't the Apk itself, I've used it on another devices and it has worked well. My fresh smartphone - a Lenovo Yoga Ebook - has an Intel processor and the apk refuses to load.

  Michael Rollison: A very awesome apk. I fail to understand why people complain about it. It works perfectly for me. One trouble may be causing the complaints. It uses a HUGE amount of smartphone memory and will crash if there is insufficient spare memory. I have had issues if I test to download the whole paper on a slow connection instead of reading online live. In this situation I had to wipe the whole smartphone and reload everything. There is a solution to the gigabytes of memory which the application reserves, so blocking installation of another apks. UNINSTALL THE APP, AND THEN REINSTALL IT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ACCOUNT NUMBER READY TO REACTIVATE THE APP.

  David Barber: A large improvement from the original apk. This fresh apk is smoother, faster and easier to navigate. Its good the apk now remembers where I left off if I don't read in one go, and the interactive puzzles now mimic the ones in the printed edition. Pages should be formatted for mobile and smartphone viewing rather than a pinch to zoom ver of the printed format (see the Telegraph or the Times for a excellent example of this). A recent news feed (see another JPI apks) is missing and would be awesome to see.

  Geoff Tyler: The apk works ok-ish but the zoom can be very sluggish (especially on pages with really big picture advertisements). You also can't change pages when zoomed in, so you have to zoom right out, change page, then zoom in once more. Also there are red highlights all over the put 90% of which aren't actual links to Web pages or emails, just any sentence that ends with a 2 letter word and a full stop.

  gareth crompton: Works well except it mysteriously stores increasing amounts of data (1.6g and growing) resulting in issues with system. Have to delete data and begin once more. On the surface of it, this seems a bit of a schoolboy error. Hudl2 smartphone.

  Peter Coghlan: As a digital news apk replicating the print edition it works as expected but it's not really a real digital interactive news apk, perhaps it will develop further. I'm puzzled as to why it requires access to contacts and smartphone which could be irrelevant as it's secured with an email ID and acc code.

  James Martin: A few recommendations: Firstly, once content is downloaded, the apk could believe that the subscription is valid if it's offline. Second, it would be really handy to be able to set the apk to automatically download each day's edition at a set time (eg, I would select 5am). Finally, I receive the idea of presenting an exact representation of the paper ver but an apk could act like an apk. Another papers' apks do this better - eg Guardian or the old Independent apk (can't comment on current Indy apk as it always crashes on me). Implementing some or all of these changes will gain stars in my rating.

  Stephen Gavin: The content is like the print ver, which is ok, but I have written twice to highlight the problem that a downloaded edition of i cannot be read unless an Internet connection is accessible to verify the subscription. I have not received a satisfactory response and so, with regret, I have cancelled my subscription.

  SL Winchester: This would be a good apk but there seems to be a trouble detecting the correct screen dimensions on my Hudl 2 smartphone. The content is limited to a square place, the lower half of which is obscured by the thumbnails that allow you navigate between pages. It was OK for a day or two when first installed, so I guess I need to delete the apk and begin once more...

  philip williams: Curates egg! Sometimes gives the previous days paper only, which isn't much use. Another times, it had simply failed to begin at all! Hmmm, its possible Johnson Group aren't investing as much effort as they could and hoping it'll sell quickly and allow the fresh owners take on the problems!!

  A Google user: Fine. A fresh ver of the Apk and a significant backward step in my opinion. While the interaction with crosswords and sudoku have improved (did they actually work before?) the forced download of a copy as opposed to reading on the "fly" is a pain. In addition the page "turning" is SO frustratingly random in function. It seems to freeze repeatedly necessitating a return to the (pointless?) index in an attempt to wake it up. Who tests these developments?
