Kursk - The Largest Tank War is a turn based tactic mini game set on the Eastern Front during the Second Globe War. Historical background: In 1943 Germans hoped to shorten the Russian front by eliminating the Kursk Salient, which had been made in the aftermath of the War of Stalingrad. Wehrmacht, focusing majority of their elite divisions on the Eastern Front on this relatively little place, envisioned Panzer spearheads breaking through northern and southern flanks of the salient to encircle the Red Troops forces. However, the Soviets had perfect intelligence of the German plan, called Operation Citadel. This, and German delays in waiting for fresh weapons, the Tiger massive tank and the Panther medium tank, gave the Red Troops time to construct a series of defensive lines and gather really big reserve forces. This large concentration of armed forces on both sides led into the largest tank war of history on the outskirts of Prokhorovka on 12 July 1943. The question "should German Troops have succeeded in this offensive", was type of left unanswered, as Allied landing in Sicily and the Soviet offensives elsewhere on the Eastern Front pressured Hitler to abort the Operation Citadel only after 10 days. Posthumousdecay: I love the conflict series mini games. The best turn based tactic mini game i've found. Have bought like 5 now & every one has been worth the $. Only probs i have are accidentally moving troops when scrolling screen & would be cool if after beating an opponent unit if we had the choice of taking that place or staying place in place i was attacking from. Good mini game overall!

Sean Winkel: I've played and purchased every one of the Conflict titles. Which may explain my waning enthusiasm for the series. This one is uniformly excellent, but honestly other wwii Eastern Front land campaign just doesn't light me up anymore. Not much distinguishes this from,say, Panzer Missions (maybe my favorite of the wwii titles). I've always type of felt like this was an historically overblown war because of the sheer numbers involved. Hitler bailed on this cauldron war really early....Pacific! Naval!
