No another Austin station brings you national and local news like KUT 90.5 FM. KUT is more than just Austin’s NPR Station. Our listeners can tune in 24 hours a day for news and info from NPR, PRI, the BBC and our own newsroom. Staples like Morning Edition and All Things Considered from National Public Radio, plus tools like The Globe from Public Radio International and BBC News Hour bring global perspectives, and award-winning local news from KUT's reporters are all in the palm of your hand. Download, tune in, and listen wherever you may be. This fresh ver of our apk focuses on two things--a high-quality stream and the tool schedule. We've thrown a couple another things in there too, but this is what our listeners have asked for most. We're providing an all digital, efficient stream using the AAC+ codec. It sounds good on all platforms, devices, radios and even over cellular. Tap in some headphones or plug your smartphone and have a listen. If you're also a fanatic of KUTX -- The Austin Melody Experience or our spin on Latin rock, Alt Latino, please download the individual versions of those apks as well. Related features, and the same good audio. We've separated the apks so we can bring better and various features to each in the future. And if you're still using the legacy KUT apk, the white one with blues and yellows, please switch to this ver and delete the old one. We'll be turning it off this summer along with the low-bitrate streams it only supports, going back to the days when the cellular networks should barely handle 24 kbps streams. KUT 90.5 FM is a public radio station from The University of Texas. We broadcast from the Moody College of Communication in the Belo Center for Fresh Media on campus, bringing you 24-hour news and info from NPR, PRI, the BBC & KUT News.   • Henry Stone: It was working dozens better than the previous apk on my smartphone at least. But today I hold getting this notice that 'unfortunately the apk has stopped' or something like that. I've tried reinstalling it a couple of times and continue to receive the same notice. I don't know if there was some modernize that is interfering with it or what, but I'd be glad to install it once more if this problem can be fixed. Thanks for working on it!

  • FerretPD: Better sound, worse connection The sound quality is better than the old App...but the connectivity is *much* worse...the old apk took forever to "buffer"...but the fresh one flat-out *won't* connect half the time...& if it drops (due to cell-tower change, etc) it just locks up the Apk, with no ability to Reset (you have to *stop* it from Settings)

  • Brendan Boerner: Tried the apk Friday evening without first checking player comments. My awful. HTC One M8. Sprint. Issues are mainly: 1. Once advertisement pane comes up, can't do much of anything. Can't go back to previous screen with play / pause controls. Most of the Hamburger menu stuff (Playing Now, About, Schedule, Sleep Timer) aren't responsive. Oddly enough the Donate link works (!) When this happens the only course is to slay the apk and reset. 2. It randomly stops playing, regardless of Sleep Timer setting. When I was listening Fri ~5p-6p it stopped every 10 mins (Sleep Timer off). Later in evening when I tried it with Sleep Timer set to say 60 minutes it would stop after 3-15 minutes. I've streamed podcasts using another apks (Podcast Republic, Pandora) driving between Austin and Houston where coverage is weak and have had no drops. As a tool developer this feels like an Alpha release.

  • Suzanne Garner: This apk just stopped working today. It keeps giving me the error notice that, "There was a trouble loading configuration info. If there is no internet connection active, please wait until it is accessible and click retry to load info" I'm connected to the internet & all my another apks are working ok. I hit retry & receive the same error notice. I deleted and reinstalled the apk and the trouble continues.

Wasn't good before the fresh, heavily promoted ver & it is completely worthless now. Glad to have found the actual site of the stream. Will delete the apk & just use the link. I suspect the station slash cost when they hired their apk developers, or perhaps used students or have turnover.
