Jason Elwess: I'm an amateur photographer with 3 years experience using a dslr camera/lenses. This apk really helped me learn how focal length, distance and aperture affect the depth of field. The interface is fluid and simple to understand. I suggest bringing a device with this apk along when you shoot to receive a feel for how it can assist you compose shots. Also, the assist section is a must read. The designer does a terrific job explaining the terminology and how the interplay of these variables affects the outcome of your shots.

Holly Henry: I have been jealous of iPhone players for this apk for a year, so I was so glad to see it accessible for my Droid that I downloaded it the first day it was accessible. I have never seen a clearer method to demonstrate depth of field, and certainly never had access to a dynamic demonstration that I should use to determine the best f.stop setting for my camera when I'm out and about and actually using it. The interface is really intuitive, and the photos that the developer used to illustrate what would be in focus at what focal length + f.stop really work for me. It's simple to use and helps me take better pictures. This is a must-have if you have an SLR! P.S. I am using this on the Droid 3 running 2.4.3

Charles Carrigan: This apk is terrific if you wish to determine the depth of field you'll receive with various camera settings, such as lens focal length, focal distance, and aperture f-stop. This was suggested to me by a photography pro in a photography course I took. Very useful!! Simple to use also, a must have for photographers.

John Ux: This apk does an good job of quickly producing a visual representation of most shooting scenarios. However, the height of objects along the field of view isn't precisely known and as the lens length increases it gets harder to understand how high the focal place is. Shooting a portrait at a length of 135mm on the apk shows an in focus working distance compared to a tree instead of a person. But if we knew the height of the focal plane we should compare to our topic better. That would assist!

Wesley Chao: The DOF calculator can be found on any number of apks but the perspective simulation is very special and it lets you estimate true life situations. Basically the apk estimates the angle of view for the lens length you input, then puts lifesize objects on a distance scale to give you an idea of what youd be framing. At 11 feet, you see that a 45mm lens frames most of an adult body, and gives 1ft dof at f4 (or something like that). The trouble is, at 6 feet I can only size up a bunch of cats and dogs, and at 30 feet I can only look at airplanes. I would LOVE it if there was a method to just look at that adult human at various distances. This method you should say "if i wish to use a 50mm lens to frame a person's head and shoulders, I'd be about X ft away and need at least Y aperture."
