I'm the kind of person who loves to have melody playing in the background whenever I'm reading, writing, or doing something that requires mental energy. But I also receive easily distracted. Songs that are too quick or have lyrics can create it hard to concentrate. At the same time, ambient noise isn't my favorite thing, so I was really satisfied when I created for you 🎵 Loffee - Lo-Fi Melody User 🎵 The melody itself always manages to relax and hold me focused. Most of the songs have a repetitive music and a slow rhythm that work together to place my mind at ease. 🎵 NOW... The 21st century has bought with it a brand fresh age of technology, and the possibilities for melody production and recording practices are constantly evolving. A lot of melody avoids mimicking live melody with acoustic instruments, and instead uses sounds made with computer software. Every sound that makes up the track was made with some form of computer tool. The accompanying beat should be comparable to a drum kit, but the bassline/melody is so warped that it can’t even be compared to anything natural or organic allow alone a musical instrument. 🎵 HISTORY OF LO-FI MUSIC The emergence of lo-fi melody in the 1950’s was started by amateur musicians that had low recording budgets. The DIY recording and non-ideal recording venues meant that unnatural distortions occurred. Despite the lack of quality the records had, the lo-fi sound became famous among the masses; it was the hero and uniqueness of a song that created it famous, not how faithful of a representation it was. It was both written and recorded at a radio station. The co-writer called it ‘a fifteen min job’, and when you listen to it you can definitely hear how the rushed recording affected the quality. It has a raw sound with an uneven mix; the drums are too quiet and the piano and saxophone are in a constant war to be heard. The raw distorted sound of lo-fi melody became associated with youth, and musicians started to record tracks using awful equipment on purpose.
