Don’t allow parliamentary procedure intimidate you. Whatever your leadership position, you can be confident with Magic Gavel® Primary. Chairs will learn how to develop an agenda, begin a meeting, handle motions and take votes. Delegates, directors, and members can quickly search guidelines for the most common motions. NOTE: the features in Magic Gavel® Meeting Programs are included in Magic Gavel® Basic. Meeting Preparation This first section contains info on meeting types, message, agenda development, executive sessions, and mins. Everything you need to know to set up your meeting for success is here. Starting the Meeting All of the language the chair needs to conduct the meeting is found in this section: how to call the meeting to order, adopt the agenda, consent agendas, approve mins, and handle reports. Touch the button to see the text, or touch the details button to learn more. During the Meeting This button will take you to the list of motions for specific language and info and the primary guidelines of debate and debate tactic. Instruction on how to make a speaker’s list to correctly recognize members is also in this section. Ending the Meeting You’re almost there. If you have completed your agenda, you do not need a motion to adjourn. Touch the “ending the meeting” button for the language to use, whether you have a motion to adjourn or not. Motions More than thirty motions are included in Magic Gavel® Primary. Most association and board meetings follow Robert’s Guidelines of Order Newly Revised (RONR) or AIP Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure (AIPSC). Just set the toggle for RONR or AIPSC and touch a button. Look for the name of the motion in the motion index. Touch it and three buttons will appear: chair, member, and details. Touch the chair button for the language used by the chair to process the motion. Touch the member button and you will search words for the member to say to create the motion. Touch the details button to receive info about the motion: whether it needs a second, can interrupt, is debatable or amendable, what vote is needed, and its rank. No matter what position you have in the meeting, you can quickly access the info you need.
