This apk does it and confirmed my suspicion that my mechanical speedo was about 10% off! Using this apk with a nexus 9 and lollipop! No issues at all...

  Karl Wooster: Good Apk! Purchased this because I am disappointed that Google Maps doesn't help showing speed. Works good, can be moved on the screen. Occasionally it will disappear or go blank, but I trust you can force to foreground if that's an problem.

  Hail Advisor: I use Google maps a lot for work. So much so I set my smartphone on top of my steering column horizontally so it's right there with the rest of my instrumentation. Challenge is it kinda covers up my speedometer. I can only see from about 20 to 70mph on my analog speedo and I am considering getting a fresh smartphone and since they are ever growing larger I was concerned about losing sight of more of my speedometer. Not any more! So this is an all around solution for me. Victory, victory, victory!

  Ned Deming: Good! Create it as large or little as you wish. Use whatever font you wish. Create it as transparent as you wish. Move it around on the screen wherever you wish. Create it disappear if you wish. This is just good. I use it on my 5.7" Android device phone, I have the numeric speed appear in numbers about 1" tall, and I overlay it on OsmAnd+, Co-Pilot, Galileo Pro, Maps.Me, whatever--works with ALL my nav apks. Extremely accurate too. Refreshes I'm guessing every second or two, and agrees 100% with those "YourSpeed" radar signs they got all over city. A few of my nav apks present my speed on the map screen, but in 1/8" tall numbers. I Iike being able to glance down and IMMEDIATELY see my speed. No squinting, no hunting for the details.

  Andy Dufek: works good, comes and goes as expected I've got this apk set to display my speed when I'm listening to podcasts or melody and when I quit any of those apks, the speed disappears -- exactly as I wish. (Thanks to the developer for quickly correcting the foreground trouble which dropped a perpetual notification icon in the bar -- seemed nobody liked that tiny mistake. :)

  Does what it says on the tin I am very satisfied with the look and feel of this apk. The player interface is slick and unambiguous. The ability to move or hide the display is well implemented. A good addition if your navigation apk has too subtle a speed display.
