Menalon Trail topoguide is a digital field tutorial for the 70 km-long Menalon Trail mountain route, situated in Arcadia, the heart of Peloponnese, Greece. Menalon Trail is the first Greek mountain route awarded by the European certification of Leading Quality Trails given by the European Ramblers Association (ERA). Menalon Trail topoguide provides detailed offline maps, accurate tracks, rich descriptions and variety of images for each one of the 8 everyday sections. Each Journey has a description, images and a POIs list. The application offers also an extensive introduction on the geography, geology and nature of the surrounding region of Gortynia, as well as a useful list of POIs with a comprehensive find engine. When in the field, the apk identifies the nearest section and provides active navigation on the path, displaying messages and warnings on every junction or another necessary place. On each Point of Interest, images and texts pop-up on the map. If the hiker gets off-trail, the apk indicates the shorter method to receive back safely. The developer, AnaDigit, has been developing cartographic products for over 20 years and has been involved in the creation of Menalon Trail as the scientific advisor for route optimisation and the developer of all similar products, such as the site and the printed map.
