A Google user: Was looking for a awesome method to play melody from my Ubuntu 12.10 machine over my network. I looked into icecast2 and darkice but the setup was complicated and is more broadcast-style. I wish on-demand playing without the need to control the media stream from my PC. Once I found Melody Pump, I got rid of icecast2 and darkice without hesitation. I tried a gratis DAAP user first but it just doesn't compare to the features of Melody Pump. Melody Pump runs beautiful well on my Galaxy S, doesn't seem to hog resources or crash. It's nice to search an apk that works so well on my aging phone, unlike some others. It seems like they probably place a lot of work into getting efficient performance from the apk. The developers have obviously place a lot of work into it, and it shows. My $2.99 was well spent. For the server end of the setup I am using Ubuntu 12.10 with Rhythmbox and the DAAP user plugin. It easily shows my melody library and my playlists (a feature that seemed absent from other leading gratis DAAP client). Once you receive used to seeing the now playing place, and the play queue (a feature that took a min to locate) I think you'll fall in love with this application too.

Thomas Nussbaumer: I bought this a while ago when it was still beautiful primary. Kudos to the dev for putting further work into it. As it is now its excellent for me. Very clean and easy GUI and caching of the song database is really fast. Love the download function as this has become the main method of getting my melody on my smartphone. Thank you very much

A Google user: Works perfect. Nice interface and usability. I run a firefly server to serve out about 30k songs and it works flawless over wireless at home and over 4G on the street connecting back to my home. Hold up the good work.

A Google user: Its clean primary design makes it very simple to search your melody. I'm using it with a firefly server on Ubuntu, mostly streaming to my NAD amp with a Logitech Bluetooth adapter. Very happy!

Claus Jessing: Just installed this yesterday and it seems to do what it claims. Awesome job. Going on the tube each day where connection is awful I should do with an option to set buffer length.

Ben F: Unbelievable tiny apk. I have tried all the apks I should search and they were all unreliable, sluggish and lacking features, to varying degrees. This tool is efficient, with a nice clean, uncluttered interface. I am streaming FLAC from a Linux machine using Rhythmbox and have my tab connected directly to my amp. I have had no problems whatsoever. When you consider the cost of this apk, the reliability and features create it perfect bang for your buck.

A Google user: Didn't search the firefly server on my DNS-323 straightaway (for some reason it defaulted to running on port 3668) but once setup manually it worked very well. Cached song db very quickly. Nice widget too. Awesome work!

Max Yeung: good apk. seeing trouble with the filename of the local offline copy if the song's name is not in English.

A Google user: Was looking for a daap client and found this - it's the best out of the few I tried and I'll be sticking with it. Just 2 things annoyed me a tiny, the lack of an equalizer (easily remedied by downloading an equalizer apk), and more importantly, the lack of skins... Please create some skins for this!!!!!! :) EDIT: Oh...and maybe a nicer looking too

Ben: really needs an modernize. 4 stars because it is the only daap client for android device i have had success with, but for what I paid to take that risk to search out if it would work or not on top of it not having been updated in over 2 years. i have figured out how to create it work for me but it is a pain in the ass sometimes. still the best daap client for droid though

A Google user: The interface is nice and it is awesome to be able see album by covers though personally I would like higher quality covers to be downloaded as most are pixilated. Whilst there is smart playlist when you choose one you only see the songs, can can't list the albums or the genres in that playlist.

Minim Phone: If I add fresh melody files to my Linux server, they don’t present up in Melody Pump unless I reinstall it. Otherwise a good apk. I'm running forked-daapd on Debian.

A Google user: Works well and quick, but interface leaves much to be desired.

A Google user: Best daap client I've used on any platform. Would love to see an ios port of this for my ipad. This is the only client that works quickly and reliably with my roku soundbridge.

Mei Douthitt: The apk itself is good. >>> The demo is problematical, because one can spend time trying to figure out why the apk isn't working - after all its only seeing HALF your songs - and only after researching the bug, you search it's not a bug but a demo limitation. >>> Just recently, I started having issues with songs that are of the genre Chillout (number 154 in ID3).... When listing by Genre, some Chillout songs are listed as being of genre "Chillout", some listed of genre "(154)", and a few of genre "154". Would be nice if things just *worked* ... >>> Turns out the company that wrote this tool (Posterous) was bought by Twitter then shut down. So no updates or bug fixes are coming.

A Google user: Almost flawless on my Nexus 7 smartphone but an occasional 'playback failed' error with my LG Optimus One w/ a meager 600 MHz processor on the same WiFi connection. Using a 3G connection is hit-or-miss unless the connection is solid; I've had success maybe one out of three tries but strangely enough other apk seemed more reliable with marginal connections and hardware.

Andreas Rosén: Love this. Even for playing local files. Missing feature to save playlists from local fast list.
User rated this game 4/5 on 2013-06-12
Michael Richey: I would have given it 5 stars, except that the apk cowardly refuses to play local melody without an internet connection. I receive an error about not being able to verify the license. So, if you're always connected - this is method cool. Using it to retrieve songs from my iTunes server for a street trip - not so cool once we were on the street.

Marmite Sandwich: Easy and works. But no auto-discover (you have to specify the IP address of the server), no .m4a album art, .mp3 album art made with iTunes doesn't always work. Not terribly compatible with iTunes, then. Works well with Firefly. Supports now playing queue. Supports playlists, but sorts them into artist order. Not terribly useful. Who wants all their Abba tracks together at the beginning of a playlist? Modernize: I changed my router (to a well known TP-Link model) and now the apk will not log on to the Firefly libraries which worked before.

A Google user: better than average daap user, but has too a lot of bugs (connection similar) for a non gratis apk.

Shawn Bolton: Used to work awesome but now constantly crashing. Needs updating.

Mr X: I can receive it to play a single song, maybe one time in twenty. Useless.

Jacques-Alexandre Bossu: Plays wrong files, test to connect 5 times to finally succeed, take a long time to download melody files despite them being very light and my connection being perfect. I would ask a refund if I should. Sincerely regret buying that items.
