  Roly Brown: Updated review..Been using MX Mariner for a year now and time for a reassessment. I think my decision to go with this apk, after trying out six or seven chart plotter tools, was the right choice. The developer is very responsive and helpful. The apk is is stable and quick. I am running Android device 4.4 on my original model Nexus 7 and 6.1 on my Moto G3, no issues. I am not much interested in marinas but the fresh integration with the Active Captain database will be nice for those that are. It looks like you don't need to have Active Captain and Adobe Air installed on your smartphone at all; MX downloads its own copy of the database. Since I started using MX in 2014 a number of updates have added useful features including the ability to insert, delete, and move waypoints and routes. The included utility allows one to easily create up a BC "region" with Canadian BSB3 charts for those who need them (everyone?). Highly suggested.

  Kevin Czajka: Fishing and hunting I have used MX mariner for about three years. It is excellent for recreational fishing. Marking deeper fishing holes and finding fresh spots. I also use it to tag favorite duck hunting spots as they are difficult to search at 0 dark thirty. Tech help was outstanding when it quit working(only once in three years, two phones)

  A Google User: Best mobile marine charting apk I'm really impressed with MX Mariner - even though it's still under active development and getting fresh features, it's one of the best Android device charting apks, and by far the best at this price point. Most charting apks are completely unusable in the true globe - either they require a full-time data connection, or require downloading individual BSB charts in advance. Some don't even help chart quilting, so you have to begin a fresh chart as your place moves from one chart to the next. MX Mariner gets this right - download charts for a whole region, and that's it. MX Mariner quilts charts together automatically, and no data connection is needed for charts within each region once downloaded. As an experienced sailor and cruiser with thousands of blue water miles, I have a beautiful awesome idea what makes a usable navigation apk. MX Mariner already useful, and getting better with each fresh ver! Really looking forward to seeing some of the planned features come along - but even so, this is a good apk and well worth checking out. It works flawlessly on both my Android device smartphone and 7" Android device smartphone. Give it a test!

  Rick Mason: Works perfectly now on Moto X! With the recent modernize all is now ok on my Moto X. I have used the apk on my Nexus 7 for a couple of weeks while planning an upcoming sailing charter and found it to be very smooth and simple to use. I have downloaded gratis NOAA charts for the Chesapeake, set waypoints and routes, and imported waypoints and routes from a GPX file. It is good to be able to switch to the satellite view to take a look at potential anchorages and to just click on the Active Captain flags to read about anchorages and marinas. It will be a true plus to have AC accessible off-line when I actually receive the possibility to use the apk on the water. BTW Will, the developer, responded very quickly to my email to tell me how he was already working on the fix for the Motorola trouble. He emailed me once more yesterday to give me a heads-up that the release with the fix was coming out that day. This says a lot to me about the developer and promises a bright future for this very useful navigation apk.

  Alan Haines: Worked flawlessly I was told about this apk 2 hours before we left port in Wrangell Alaska, heading for our home in Haines Alaska. We ended up running the narrows at night. All navigation was done with the smartphone with no issues. The next night we pulled into the harbor in Juneau without any issues. If we didn't have this our run would have taken a week or more because the weather window would have slammed shut on us. Don't leave port without it.

I used both the Fresh Zealand and US charts. My only want is for a method to install Canadian Charts for my home waters. I am running CyanogenMod 4.2.1.

  Adrian Vrouwenvelder: Gorgeous apk I have been using this apk for a couple of years. I mostly use paper charts, and use a for-purpose GPS to receive a fix when I am out of sight of land, but have turned this apk on for tricky spots, or to receive a fast reassurance of my position and I am delighted. Frankly I think this should create chart plotters obsolete. I do want there were a smartphone ver for the Surface Pro 2, as OpenCPN is not as nice.

I emailed Will with an problem (that turned out to be my fault) and he replied back (multiple times) within the hour. Although I've not had a possibility to use it yet looks good from the maps. Create sure to Register for Active Captain to receive the overlays. Thanks Will for your assist!
