Shire initiated and funded the myPNtracker apk to help people who require parenteral nutrition support.myPNtracker allows these patients to track their weight and a lot of aspects of their fluid/nutrient intake and output. Collecting this data may assist patients take an active role in the management of their condition. myPNtracker was developed in collaboration with short bowel syndrome experts. The intuitive interface makes it fast to enter changes in weight and track both everyday input values—oral fluids, IV nutrition infusions, IV fluid hydration and salt capsule—and everyday output values—urine, stool, stoma or vomit, everyday wellness, fluid balance. Healthcare providers can register on myPNtracker.com to monitor a patient’s progress, if the patient decides to share their data with them (optional feature). myPNtracker is accessible internationally for use in a dozens of languages including English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Technical details: Patients have complete control over whether or not data is shared, and with whom it is shared. For added safety all data is encrypted and the apk has an added passcode safety layer on top of the safety features of the mobile device. The apk also contains a reminder feature to track appointments with healthcare providers, reminders to take medications and to create regular data entries.
