  Trevor Bemrose: The apk works fine and does what it's supposed to do, however it needs improving. I have only purchased one ebook so far and I have to scroll through all the ebooks accessible in order to search the one I bought every time I wish to read it. It needs to either have purchased ebooks placed at the top, or have a find bar to search and sort them. There are already find bars for another categories, like openings, middlegames etc.

  Morten Skarstad: This is an apk that lets you buy and read books from Fresh in Chess. However, it seems the focus for the developer has been on the former rather than the latter: When opening the apk you receive a list of ebooks to buy, no method to search which ebooks you have already bought or how far you have come reading them. A lot of the time you can't even access your ebooks, you are just given the option of buying them once more! When it works the layout is nice, the mini game viewer works, and even integrates quite nicely with Analyze This, even though it only pushes single positions rather than the whole mini game. Too awful about all the bugs in this tool, and help is sadly nonresponsive. If you can chose, you are probably better off buying NiC ebooks on another platforms, such as Forward Chess, Chessable, Kindle or receive a hard copy.

  Maurice McCarthy: I've got a Galaxy S7 Edge running Android device 8.0.0 with safety patches up to March 2020 but this apk crashes on being opened. I've no idea why. I can read the books on my PC but it is frustrating not being to use my smartphone if I'm out somewhere else.

  Andrew James: Allow me begin by saying I love NIC magazine. I was a magazine subscriber (and will be once more soon). So, it pains me to say that this apk does not even come close to NIC's usual high standards. We're talking issues with the very basics, the minimum you'd expect when trying to read something. First, there is no put that lists your purchased ebooks, so you have to manually search the ebook you wish to read on the shop. There's no find, either, so you have to scroll through all the ebooks in the shop until you search the ebook you've already bought. Then, it doesn't save where you latest left off, so you also have to scroll through the ebook to search where you left it. This alone is really awful - the ebook I bought lays out each chapter in full in one continuous page you just scroll through - there are no page numbers, it's just 1 page per chapter, making finding where you left off a task in itself. This is NOT a reader-friendly apk. The saving grace not to receive only 1 star is the useful built-in mini game viewer, and the content itself isn't awful (although this is more a reflection of the authors themselves). I am relieved I bought a ebook on a sale, I'd have been very disappointed if I'd paid full price (and chess ebooks are not cheap) due to the extremely awful player experience. I hope they improve the apk over time, it should be good with a tiny love and attention, but as it stands today, I'll stick with the printed ebooks.

  Charles Koenig: What everyone else is saying!! No sorting, no bookmarking, purchased ebooks could be listed FIRST, not a plethora of buy this and buy that!! Ebooks can be downloaded, but, only within the apk. Unable to save to SD card.

  Altug Metin: not possible to begin the ebooks you bought. displays only cover page. scam!!! full of bugs. inverting the board doesnt work, apk doesnt remember the latest position in the ebook. you need to scroll down the whole chapter each time if you are lucky enough to know where you left. useless buttons disturbing the reader for auto scrolling in the text. seriously? who reads a chess ebook at constant speed?
