The temperature gauge in your car is designed to indicate the temperature of your engine’s coolant. This gauge will tell you if your engine’s coolant is cold (Cold C), normal (about in the middle), or overheating (Hot H), but not shows you exact temperature. Operating engine temperature is about 90 ºC – 104 ºC (195 ºF – 220 ºF) : This is the temperature at which the thermostat opens allowing coolant to travel to the radiator. 2.
