About the application:

If you want to test the mini game before you buy, there is a Lite ver accessible which give you full access to the first 2 levels. Version 2.1 of Oubliette is a major modernize with a number of fresh features: - It is now possible to have multiple players on the same device, each with their own set of mini game data. To make a fresh players simply choose the 'Switch Player' option from the main screen and enter a fresh player name. - You can now both buy and sell stuff in the store. In addition, you can search random non-basic stuff for sale. - The Fireball, Lightning Bolt and Ice Storm spells now target only one creature group, and no longer do any hurt to the party. - The inventory system has been reworked. There is now one master package which is shared by all heroes. You will no longer need to transfer stuff from one hero to other. - The upper levels have been created easier, and the lower levels harder You will only receive one creature group when you are on level one, one or two creature groups on level 2, up to three creature groups on levels 3 through 7, up to 4 creature groups on levels 8 & 9, and up to 5 groups on level 10. - The gold situation is much improved at the beginning of the mini game. You will begin with less gold, but could be able to search sufficient gold to be able to rest. - The aging has been reduced. You now will age by weeks instead of months. - Unique rooms now yield fresh special stuff with fresh powers as well as portal gems. - Dungeon level 11 has been added, complete with a final boss. - Both smartphone and smartphone devices are now supported. - A lot of minor improvements have been created which are too numerous to mention. Oubliette is the classic multiplayer dungeon fantasy role playing mini game, finally accessible on Android device phones. Build a party of warriors, priests, mages and thieves to run deep into the dungeon. Try your courage and skill versus groups of orcs, trolls, vampires and dragons. Earning its reputation as the thinking man's dungeon mini game, Oubliette blends the thrill of mortal combat with the sublime challenges of tactic, planning and adaptation. Rather than testing your reaction speed and nerves, like a first person shooter, Oubliette challenges the user to do careful strategic planning as well as create tactical decisions in the heat of battle. Each user (hero) in the mini game is made from one of eight user races, which vary in attributes such as strength, intelligence, dexterity and durability. Elves are highly clever and (potentially) immortal, Orcs are powerful with short life spans, Dwarves are powerful with high wisdom, Kobolds are quite weak in most places but advance more quickly. Depending on these attributes, each user will be qualified to join a limited number of user classes (occupations). More balanced users will have more choices, including Hirebrand (warrior), Mage, Priest and Thief. Less commonly, users may be qualified for a highly selective class with unique skills such as Ranger, Sage, Paladin, Samurai or Ninja. Unlike mini games which focus on a single user versus multiple enemies, Oubliette allows a party of up to 10 users with complementary skills to face the different types of creatures found in the dungeon. There are more than 160 various creatures, and to deal with them, more than 150 various pieces of equipment, which may be enchanted with unique properties or skills. Oubliette is challenging, but forgiving. Fresh users commonly have their parties wiped out by an unfamiliar group of creatures. In fact, your party can meet up to 3 creature groups at the same time! Use the Temporal Chamber to save a Temporal Portal before risky trips. If things turn out badly, use the Temporal Chamber to turn back the clock and test once more. The trapeze is every bit as thrilling, but safer, with a net below. Explore the easier levels of the dungeon to build your party and expertise. And then, when you are ready, feel the power of the mini game on the deeper levels. Onward to Glory!

Not only is this a faithful rendition, but it has a few features gleaned from the decades of RPG development without sacrificing the flavour of the original. Customer help is A+ with the Dev himself responding to all questions within hours of sending! In short, this is the best few dollars I ever spent on an apk. The only thing I can ask for is a tiny more dozens in the creature graphics. ;-)

  • Tim Baker: I am particular about my mini games. ...and this is "my mini game!." I love the method it takes me back every time I begin the apk. DO NOT CLEAR YOUR CACHE! I created that mistake and lost it all. Don't be scared though. I simply wiped my smartphone so I should reinstall it! Ya, it is that awesome IMHO. Mini game on. Leaves you wanting more but not before you appreciate spending the cash. I'd spend more for more gear & more levels...only for the appreciation of the mini game.

  • A Google user: I’m not sure if people know, but Oubliette is actually a classic mini game from 1983 – but it’s nice to see that they have kept the original’s charm while adding extra content such as an 11th level, secret rooms and a boss war. The mini game itself is easy, but it’s well implemented and the party/character building is spot on. Any fanatic of Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Master or party-based rogue-likes will be at home here. Wars aren’t very complex, but the tactic really comes when weighing up the risks and rewards – do you use your spells/potions or will you need them later? While I would have fun something with a bit more depth outside of hero creation and combat, Oubliette is easily the best native Android device RPG I’ve seen. One change I'd like to see: Would love gender to be selectable rather than have it random. And if the dev was to consider an all fresh Oubliette II, I'd love to see Eye of the Beholder style side quests and puzzles added in the mix. Considering how simple it would be to port, I’m shocked (and somewhat annoyed) that there haven’t been any Might & Magic or Eye of the Beholder ports on the shop – but thankfully Oubliette offers a compelling alternative.

  • A Google user: Good time assassin Not super involved, but unbelievable for old school RPG fanatics if like me, you need to be able to place the mini game down at a moments message and come back to it later. Not hard to play, however I love that your heroes can stay dead (sometimes they rez sometimes you have to bury them where they fell) makes it a good combo of simple to learn but still challenging. Is this a makeover of an oldschool mini game? It definitely has that classic feel.

  • mike morris: Perfect mini game! A timeless classic dungeon experience, and not for the faint of heart. After 4 months of playing I am still working towards the lower levels, encountering fresh creatures and discovering fresh equipment. The developer responds to questions via the forum on his site, and keeps an begin dialouge with users. Much of the mini game is based on probabilities & the possibility of things event, so there is a sense of surprise to hold users engaged. Test it and you won't be able to stop playing!

  • Wes Lauffer: Good mini game overall, love that you can slow down and speed up combat as required. Dozens of good stuff to search and use. Not overly hard (though I still regularly receive wiped out in lvl 10 and haven't got to lvl 11 yet). Use your temporal gems and save regularly and you will be ok. There are a few minor things that bum me out but overall I really have fun it. Reminds me of Wizardry which was one of my favorite old school regular Nintendo mini games when I was a child.

  • A Google user: If you remember the DOS ver, the Android device ver is a faithful modernize with first person perspective. Those who missed it on their home computer can experience the magnificence of an Eye of the Beholder or Dungeon Master style mini game, executed extrordinarily well. Difficulty is higher than others in the genre, but much easier than the PLATO ver. Be smart and cautious to succeed. I love the improvements to inventory and the ability to save progres via Portal Gems. Multiplayer please, if possible!

  • Adam Chauvette: I recently upgraded from Lite and havent regretted it. Each time into the dungeon ia various and each time you go deeper you are always wondering if any one of your heroes might never see the light of day once more. This mini game bring back so a lot of memories and I only have 1 complaint about it: the deire to level faster and receive deeper into the dungeon! This mini game is excellent for any rpg crawler fanatic and those, like myself, who grew up playing Eye of the Beholde. The mod is good! 5 star!!

This mini game is not for everybody though. If you don't like RPGs that have no story, then this is probably not your style.

  • Mike Cosgrove: As someone who spent more than a few hours playing the Commodore-64 ver of Oubliette 25 years ago this is a good adaptation of the classig RPG. It's probably not for lovers of modern, live-combat oriented RPGs but is a lot of fun for someone who enjoyed the original. Another than the better graphics it's beautiful much the exact same mini game from what I can remember, with a few extra twists and turns. Good mini game!

I was just browsing the apk shop, looking for a mini game for my smartphone. I did not wish other "tosser" or bird shoot! Ran across this and bought it on the spot. Beware! It is not a pansy keep your hand mini game! You will lose heroes you become attached too if you just rush in!
