  MuppetOwl: Good apk to use with Home Assistant. But on my two devices a Galaxy S9+ and S8 I can only se the recent 2.0 ver on the S9. Play shop present only the older ver for the S8 and no modernize. Both phones use Android device 8.0

  A Google user: I've been using this for my family for a while now. It works good. Devs are very helpful and responsive via github. There are some nuances to how the reporting actually happens, and it's all clearly described in the documentation. Some reviewers complain that the place is wrong, but it's just how the Android device significant changes API works. These people need to read the documentation!! It's all configurable, and you can push updates out to clients which is good.

  Nicolas Pfeffer-Taggart: Incredibly cool apk! Once you receive through the configuration (a bit complex but worth the effort and very customizable) it serves as a good, security-focussed alternative to another closed-source place sharing apps/systems from Google/Apple/etc. I highly suggest using Owntracks Recorder and Mosquitto MQTT broker as the backend for this apk. If you don't need full MQTT, Recorder's HTTP endpoint works really well on Android device. Satisfied tracking!

  Robert Chapman: I have been working to configure this to work with home-assistant and after much finagling and doc reading it works. Would like to have more display control on old devices. MQTT is behind a lot of decisions but some easy GUI controls over display would be nice.
