About the application:

Oxcore Engineering solves the Colebrook-White equation through a user-friendly interface. This tool calculates the friction head loss for piping and displays the associated results at the desired fluid temperature. A valve and fitting database is included as well, so the player can contain the minor losses. This tool works for all single phase homogeneous fluids. The Colebrook-White equation is solved utilizing an iterative algorithm to search the friction factor. The Darcy-Weisbach equation is then used to determine the head loss for the associated friction factor. The calculator works in both Metric and Imperial troops and the player can choose a preferred unit system. Water density and water viscosity are automatically calculated from built-in functions that let for substantial time savings versus conventional ways. The tool also allows for calculations using liquids another than water. The player can enter the desired density and dynamic or kinematic viscosity for any particular single phase homogeneous liquid. The player interface currently supports English, German & Spanish. Instructions and similar info is included to assist the player complete the input fields correctly. The needed inputs are as follows: Temperature Fluid Flow Rate Absolute Roughness of Pipe Internal Pipe Diameter Pipe Length Pipe Fittings (optional) A pipe fittings and valve database system is included in the tool to compute the minor losses. A table is provided with sample K-Values for different fittings. Pipe Fittings and Valves can be added, deleted & changed as needed. The following input troops can be chosen and used for calculations: Temperature: fahrenheit, rankine, celsius, kelvin Density: lb/ft^3, lb/in^3, g/cm^3, kg/m^3, specific gravity Dynamic Viscosity: lbf*s/ft^2E-5, centipoise (cP) Kinematic Viscosity: centistokes (cSt) Internal Pipe Diameter: inches, feet, mm, cm Flowrate: gallon per min (gpm), barrels per hour (bph), barrels per day (bpd), ft^3/hr, liter per min (lpm), m^3/hr Pipe Length: feet, inches, miles, meters, centimeters, kilometers Abs Roughness: inches, feet, mm, cm The tool outputs the following information: Mass Flow Rate Friction Factor Dynamic Viscosity Kinematic Viscosity Reynold's Number Water Density Flow Regime Liquid Velocity Velocity Head Fitting Losses Head Loss Pressure Loss Hydraulic Horsepower The tool is valid for water temperature range: 32F (0C) - 212F (100C) The range for the Absolute Roughness is player defined with a reference table included.
