'Precision GPS Pro' uses your device's GPS sensor to measure your place more accurately than is possible with typical GPS apks. Turn your smartphone or smartphone into a precision GPS navigation instrument. Normally, tool on your Android device device determines your place from individual GPS readings. This is ok if your are interested in getting your place to within about 10 meters. However, it is possible to do better than this if you average a lot of readings at a particular location. This apk is designed to do just that -- average a lot of readings of a stationary Android device device to receive a more accurate place; it actually calculates a weighted average, accounting for the accuracy of each reading. The trade-off is time. You will need to wait a least a few mins to receive a high accuracy average location. 'Precision GPS Pro' displays the following info on the main screen: -'start/stop' button, -'reset' button, -'save' button, -'email' button, -'UTM' button, -remaining battery power readout (%), -current latitude, longitude and (corrected - see below) elevation, -round number, -elapsed time, -PDOP, HDOP, VDOP values, -number of GPS satellites in view, -number of GPS satellites employed in fixing location, -signal-to-noise ratio of signal from each satellite, -accuracy of the current readings, -weighted average (mean) latitude, longitude and (corrected - see below) elevation, -graph of the current latitude and longitude (white connected points), the average value (red dot) and a scale box (green), -'status' of apk - either 'Idle', 'waiting, 'searching', or 'working', -sky plot of active satellite positions, -option to select format of displayed coordinates, -'maps' button to send average coordinates to a mapping apk, such as 'Google Maps.' The 'restart' and 'save' buttons are inactive while readings are being taken. They can be used after the 'stop' button is pressed. If the measurements are stopped and then started once more without pressing the 'restart' button, then only the 'elapsed time' value is reset. The latitude and longitude values are shown on the graph. North is up and east is to the right, as on a map. The graph automatically rescales to contain the extreme values of longitude and latitude each time it updates the graph (every four seconds in fastest data acquisition mode). The green 'scale box' is 2 meters on a side. It will not always have a square shape, since the graph scaling for latitude is not necessarily the same as the graph scaling for longitude. During the early rounds, sometimes only a portion of the scale box is visible; this occurs when the displayed ranges of latitude and longitude are very small. The elevation is corrected to the EGM96 geoid. This provides absolute accuracy in elevation just under one meter. A 'settings' screen provides options to hold the screen continuously on while the apk is running, change the interval between measurements (in mins, with a minimum of 1 min), select the language (English, French, Spanish, or German), select the elevation troops (meters or feet), select whether to let the apk to run in the background, and select which format to display the coordinates. There is also a button to restart the saved measurements, which can be viewed on the 'history' screen. When the 'save' button is pressed, the date, time, and average coordinates are also copied to the clipboard, including the history data. Note, when you change the 'background run' status on the settings screen, you must reset the apk for this change to take effect. Localization language help is provided for French, German and Spanish. No private info is sent to others without the user's direct actions. Applications of 'Precision GPS Pro' contain navigation, geocaching, prospecting, emergencies, surveying a property, observational astronomy, and archaeology. Jeff Altorfer: Read the short "Details" heading (which is really an operators manual). Exceptionally well thought out interface, though button functions are non-standard (return has no result, must directory change screens by selection) [not a trouble]. Positional Accuracy is only as awesome as any another GPS accuracy apk I've used, with 5 min averaged PA consistent with an instantaneous fix, not better (which seems impossible, or rather, improbable). But I really like this apk anyway: ' intelligent, useful, functions.

W.C. Hast: I was looking for something to capture gps data to test to locate a put on the property to place a receiving website for a internet connection, I required some accurate GPS details, I was looking for something that would let me to capture the gps data into a CVS file and then run a average on it, but this does it all for me, what good apk!!. Now I can also go out and check the bench marks on the property and see just how accurate they are.

clay: To the developers: if I should restart this thing in the middle of a reading, I think I should receive much more accurate data, as much of the uncertainty seems to come from the spam data that comes when it first starts a read. Fix that, a definite five star apk, but as it is, I can barely receive this thing under 40 m, and for a paid apk, that's ridiculous.

J C: Virtually the same as others. My 2003 PocketPC used a "tool" to average GPS to 6 inches. I would move the Bluetooth sensor around 1ft tiles and see indicated change within half tile.

Bob Drury: The gratis ver works for me but the pro ver has a serious bug. The averaged coodidates it gives are complete garbage. Not even close by 1000 miles! Please fix soon!
