Apparently some devices have the pitch/roll sensors installed differently from the norm. Easy, simple to use and a bargain at $2 with no advertisements or gimmicks.

  Limited by hardware The compass is jittery and impossible to use when the smartphone is in a cradle. Little bumps cause large changes in the readout. It seems a tool buffer to temper reaction of the display would be helpful. But the large reason for the three star: Why does this apk need full network access? EDIT: Developer responded with the reason for network access (see answer below). I have increased my rating of the apk accordingly. Fresh features have been added since I first installed the apk - these features addressed my complaints - I just didn't search them in the menus.

  Jim Noort: Only trouble is when i select "present % grade" instead of degrees. The readout does present the percent grade but the degree symbol persists. So unless you remember your setting you should mistakenly think you were observing the degree slope.
