The S1 Mobile Mapper is a custom mapping and field data collection Android device application built by the Service First (S1) Mobile GIS squad, sponsored by Oregon State Office Bureau of Land Management and Region 6 US Forest Service. For the public S1 Mobile provides offline mapping capability that distributes official US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management maps for offline use. Maps that are distributed are gratis maps that are already publicly accessible and have gone through the appropriate agency public affairs process. Application contains GPS capability so that you can see where you are on public land even when not connected to any cell network (note that maps must be downloaded to device in order to see them offline). Additionally the apk contains the ability to take method points, GeoTag images and primary navigation as the crow flies. For government staff (currently accessible to Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, National Park Service, USGS and National Interagency Fire Center) S1 is designed to extend offline mobile field data collection capabilities not accessible using commercial ESRI mapping apks and to meet the specific data collection needs of the federal agencies served by the OR/WA Service First Mobile GIS tool. The application leverages each agency's ArcGIS for Organization (AG4O) website as well as their internal ArcGIS Server deployments to distribute, collect, and modernize enterprise geographic info systems (GIS) info by agency field personnel.

Alan Long: To the developers, this is one of my favorite apks for back country travel where data connection isn't possible. However, the one feature lacking that I would absolutely love to have is the ability to upload a gpx track of some sort. Maybe that's a feature accessible to government players but it's my only true complaint about the apk everything else works good. The interface does have a little learning curve though...

MICHAEL JACKSON: Apk simply didn't work for me. It showed a map of the US and wouldn't or couldn't search and load any maps. If had no BLM data. It was just a bare apk. I don't see its usefulness.

Fred Schamberger: Apk does not include PLSS data. Hitting back button once closes apk even when trying to go back a page entering login credentials.
