About the application:

The Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) smartphone apk was jointly developed by the Center on Addiction and Northwell Health to aid healthcare providers in conducting screening and brief intervention with patients in healthcare settings. The goal of this apk is to standardize and streamline screening for dangerous substance use, provide individualized feedback to patients based on the screening data, and supply standard programs for brief intervention to enhance discussion of motivation and goal setting. It is a user-friendly, interactive program that is meant to enhance the screening and brief intervention process for both the provider and the patient. It is to be used by the provider with the patient, rather for patients to use independently. The apk also contains a training module for healthcare providers to learn more about SBIRT and how to use the apk. Development of this apk was funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant (#5U79TI025102) to the Fresh York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
