  Clyde Harvey: If you're familiar with Plex, you already know that most of the clients provide a bland, utilitarian experience, and while they may do the job, (and beautiful well at that), it's an experience that's ok on your desktop PC, but not for your living room. Serenity for Google TV sets out to change all that, with simple to navigate menus, optimized for really big format screens. As seen in the screenshot above, Content details is provided, such as episode, synopsis, genre, etc. Note: Hold in mind, the apk is currently in beta, and as such, is a work in progress. it may not provide all the functionality of another plex head ends, but changes and improvements are being created on a continual basis, and the developer has been very receptive to input/feedback.

  Dan Larsen: It looks awesome, however the UI should use a bit of polish, such as smooth scrolling. Also, the option to browse films in a grid is nice for quickly scanning a really big library, but I'd still like to see info of an individual present before it starts playing. Thanks for making an alternative. I'm looking forward to future updates!

  A Google user: While not as visually polished as the official Plex apk, Serenity has the advantage of actually working. The official apk won't play a handful of my files, no matter what combination of settings I set. Serenity handles them all perfectly.

  Kai S.: Installed on N7 2013, and the categories text ("Films", etc.) would not properly appear - they all present as "...". They were still able to be pressed, and I should tell what they were based on the changing background photo, but no amount of fiddling with settings would create them properly appear. Another than that, it works well - automatically detected my Plex server, and allows me to use MX User (Pro) to play videos, bypassing the problem that the official Plex client has with 4.4.3+.

  brandon anglin: Looks like it's going to be a good interface after some more development. Some things are a tiny bit buggy (like folder section names on the main screen receive slash off) but after looking at forums it seems the developer is taking this apks progress seriously and addresses problems and request fairly promptly. I have high hopes for it.

  Jarrett Vance: The plex apk stopped playing files with DTS audio but this apk still works. The only trouble with this apk is the UX (player experience). The apk needs to be faster, default to "On Deck", better utilize fanatic art, and the UI needs lots of tiny tweaks to look better. However, it is opensource so I'll test to lend a hand. Thanks lord!   Dale Moore: ***updating my review*** After using the apk for awhile, i'm running into problems with playback. Some files i receive just a back screen and nothing will play, forcing me to switch over to the roku to watch it. Not sure where the trouble is, but there STILL is no awesome solution, that i've found, to receive video from my server onto my GoogleTV. Changed to 3 stars, its awesome when it works ***end of modernize** This apk rocks on the GoogleTV. the Plex apk for GTV is horrid, and this is a ok replacement. I gave it four stars because it didn't do automatic discovery of my Plex server, but it was just a matter of putting in my servers ip address. For the future Id like some more options. Themes, smooth scrolling etc. Good apk, definitely glad i came across it

  D. Scott Angle: I got this apk in hopes it would let me to go through my guides and series videos with continuous playback, and maybe it will, but I haven't been able to receive that far. As I have a really big guide library, the easiest method for me to navigate plex has been to 'view by folder', but I can't search any method to do this using Serenity. When I got this apk I didn't expect it to actually remove some of my functionality, essential functionality in this instance. Hopefully, someone will be able to present me that I'm simply not using it correctly - and viewing by folder is actually possible. However, until that happens, I can't search my files... Yes I should find, but a lot of file names are only numbers, in a named folder...

  David Belovich: Windows 8.1 Pro, PLEX media server 0.9.11.16, and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Initially couldn't search my PLEX media server. Easy fix was manually entering server IP address in Apk settings menu as "preferred server". My folders then appeared on reset; HOWEVER, apk crashes every time I choose a folder to play a video. Have uninstalled/reinstalled and rebooted smartphone and computer a few times to no avail. Shame, really wanted to like this apk.

  sgian: Save time, don't buy this. Considering there is no gratis trial, I expected that an apk paid upfront, although for a simbolic price, would at least work. So far I have't been able to create it connect to my Plex Server, (home wireless connection). Promised to be awesome solution for Android/Plex players, it still does not work. after I've been dealing with it for a lot of hours now to no avail. Either I haven't found the proper help channels or their help is really minimum. Per what I have seen, it is for experts so if you are not one, don't bother. Too awful. (Trying to connect Google Nexus 2013 Smartphone, Android device 5.1.1 to current ver of Plex on Windows 7 )

  Johan van Jaarsveld: DOES NOT WORK AFTER RECENT UPDATE. Since the latest modernize I cannot receive past the first screen where I choose either "Films" or "Series" from my server because the apk keeps on crashing at that point. I do report it everytime. Please check this.
