SMS Backup & Restore is an apk that backs up (creates a copy of) SMS & MMS messages and call logs currently accessible on the smartphone. Backup format is independent of the Android device ver so the messages and logs can be easily transferred from one smartphone to other, irrespective of the ver. - Quick Transfer between 2 phones over WiFi direct - Gratis up place on your smartphone. Delete all SMS messages or call logs on the Smartphone. - Email a backup file. - The XML backup can be viewed on a computer via the online viewer at https://SyncTech.com.au/view-backup/ Notes: - Inspected on Android device 5.0 and higher - Apk only restores backups created by this apk - Backup is made locally on the smartphone by default, but has options to upload to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Email. Adrian Walker: I was getting "ERROR! Upload failed : Attempt to invoke virtual way 'boolean java.lang.String.endsWith(java.lang.String)' on a null object reference: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual way 'boolean java.lang.String.endsWith(java.lang.String)' on a null object reference". I emailed help and they responded with the reason and a solution on Dec 26th!! Just in case anyone else gets that error before a fresh build is released with a fix the solution is to use the default local backup directory under Menu > Settings > Backup Settings > Local Backup Folder (mine is /storage/emulated/0/SMSBackupRestore/) Outstanding help! I have used this apk for years and this is the first time I ever encountered a trouble. The interface is user-friendly not overly-cluttered. I would definitely suggest this to mates.

Jess Haddow: I had some problem with this apk at first, but it ended up working good for me. The first time I loaded text messages from an xml backup, all of the text messages were loaded twice. I double checked the xml and there were no duplicates, so this confused me. I then deleted all sms using the apk and reloaded the backup messages. This time, there were no duplicates. I use hangouts as my default sms messaging apk, so I wonder if hangouts had a bug that caused duplicates while loading the sms messages. In the end, the apk allowed me to transfer sms messages going back 2 1/2 years to my fresh smartphone. Thanks!

Gary Simkins: Used to move all messages off my old smartphone to fresh. Advice, it failed to send whilst still using my standard apk for msgs. Choose to use this apk for them then complete the transfer then set back to original apk and uninstal this if you wish. Messages stay. Good apk will use once more

Christopher Manning: My 4g service stopped working on my Samsung Attain, latest troubleshooting effort was to do a factory restart, which would delete ALL private data. I downloaded the apk to preserve all my text messages. The apk backed-up, and later restored, all my text messages perfectly! 100% successful!!!
