  A Google user: Works well with Android device 4 on Galaxy GT-19100. I've been working on birdsong, and this application produces a decent and useful photo of the analysis of the song, say, of a Blackbird (European), detecting frequencies well-beyond my (ageing) ears. It will also detect Bat echo-location signals. As an retired physicist I search this device unbelievable, when I recollect the amount of kit such as the CROs, mics, amplifiers, which was required to do such an analysis years ago. I can sit in the garden and 'watch' the birdsong, with one little phone! It has also been useful in looking at the overtones emanating from a Tibetan Singing Bowl, and likewise by Mongolian Throat Singers. The fun is endless! A labelled y-axis would be a refinement. Nevertheless, an perfect application.

  A Google user: This apk really needs time labels along the X axis.   Another than that, I am quite impressed.  My background in acoustical analysis would create this of interest to me, but I think even those without such a background would have to search this very cool.  I have a memory, from more than a quarter century ago, of being shown a waterfall plot, and hearing the sound that was represented, and having a light go on in my head about the relationship between what I was seeing and what I was hearing.  Back then, it took the better part of an hour for a pen plotter to draw the waterfall plot that I was shown.  I can imagine people today, watching this apk on their phones in realtime, and having the same epiphany that I had back then.   About twenty years ago, I wrote a tool like this to run on an MS-DOS-based computer, in realtime.  Back then, it took a specialized digital signal processor to handle doing the FFTs quick enough to create this possible.  Isn't it good how far the technology has advanced, since then, that this can now be done in a little, common, handheld device.

  John Doe: There are a lot of awesome voice print and spectral analysts apks out there for gratis but I personally feel it was worth the cash to pay to zoom to a specific frequency range where the relevant data that I need is. Another gratis apks don't provide that feature as well as this tool does. It's the best I've seen for that feature alone and It's the best we got on ANY mobile platform right now. You will need a awesome smartphone though for those high refresh rates, but it beats luging around a laptop and mic any day. :-D
