Sound Pressure Level Meter. This apk uses the microphone to detect sound and convert it into an SPL value. FOR INDICATION ONLY. Results depend on your device and its hardware. The range between the noise floor and saturation may be only 20 dB on the worst devices, but should exceed 100 dB on the best devices. Features of this SPL meter contain: Analogue Dial with Max and Minute indicators. Weighting – A, C or None . (A weighting filters the high and low frequencies according to how the ear perceives sound loudness). Results are in dB, dBA or dBC depending on weighting. Averaging of SPL, Clear and Pause buttons. Octaves and third octaves - Frequency spectrum of the sound. Graph – Shows the time depedence of the sound. Autoscale or manual (pinch & pan) Y-Axis. Relative button – if looking for differences, tapping REL will remove the current averaged value from the reading. Calibrate option – If you have a calibrated SPL meter or known loudness source, you can use this option to calibrate the meter. (However its still for Indication Only). David Ward: After trying a few sound meter apks, I finally found a keeper. Don't be place off by the gimmicky blue border; the inner workings of this apk are actually functional. The default calibration seemed to read a bit high for my Galaxy S5, but the apk can be recalibrated quite easily with a one, two, or three point calibration.

Vincenzo Mario Cristi: Beautiful useful also allows you to calibrate it. Bottleneck will always be your smartphone microphone sensitivity but all in all a good apk. Used also in professional environment with very low margin error (0.4 dB).

Chris Stronks: Easy and dead accurate after calibration. I use it to quick-check our speech try setup. This apk actually was accurate enough to message a slow drift in the calibrated sound level of a few dB over a period of weeks. It tuned out to be a faulty transmitter device in the setup.

Andrew Bosak: Every another dB meter apk I've ever tried has been off by a significant factor, making it beautiful much useless. But after comparing to known values, this one is accurate down to about 2 dBA! Good UI, good advanced features for people who know what they're doing.
