StarSense Explorer’s sky recognition technology has revolutionized the manual telescope by eliminating the confusion common among beginners and enhancing the player experience for even seasoned telescope players. A lot of would-be astronomers become frustrated or lose interest in their manual telescope because they don’t know where to point it to see planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies—the awesome items! StarSense Explorer tells you exactly which celestial objects are currently visible in the night sky and where to move your telescope to put those objects in the telescope’s eyepiece. THE NIGHT SKY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS The user-friendly planetarium interface allows you to scan the skies for objects you want to view. You can also find for objects in the extensive database. Not sure what to observe? StarSense Explorer automatically generates a list of all the best stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae and more currently visible from your place. Simply choose one from the list and off you go! While you observe, you can access detailed info, photos, and audio descriptions for the most famous objects. It’s a good method for the entire family to learn scientific facts, history, mythology, and more, deepening your understanding of the night sky. EASY AS 1-2-3: DOCK, LAUNCH, OBSERVE To receive started, assemble your StarSense Explorer telescope and download the apk. Your telescope contains a special unblock code to access the full features of the apk. Connect your smartphone to the telescope by placing it into the StarSense dock and begin the app. After a easy 2-step procedure to align the smartphone’s camera with the telescope, the apk displays a view of the night sky and shows a bullseye on the screen to represent the telescope’s current pointing position. From here, you can choose an object to view by tapping it in the planetarium view or choosing it from the Tonight’s Best observing list. Objects will vary from night to night; you may see planets like Jupiter or Saturn, nebulae like Orion, the Andromeda Galaxy, or another object types. Once you choose an object, the apk displays pointing arrows onscreen. These indicate where to move the telescope to search it. Follow the arrows until the bullseye appears centered on target. When the bullseye turns green, the object is visible in the telescope’s lower powered eyepiece. HOW STARSENSE EXPLORER WORKS StarSense Explorer uses photo data captured by the smartphone’s camera to determine its pointing position. The apk captures an photo of the night sky and then matches the star patterns within the photo to its internal database in a process like fingerprint matching or facial recognition. The process of extracting star pattern data in photos to determine a telescope’s current pointing position is called “plate solving.” It is the same way used by professional observatories and orbiting satellites. The StarSense Explorer apk is the first apk ever developed that uses plate solving to determine the smartphone’s current pointing position. Another astronomy apks rely on the smartphone’s gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compass to estimate its pointing position. These ways are not accurate enough to put objects within the telescope’s field of view. StarSense Explorer technology is patent-pending. A Google user: Junk, just crashes on my Z max pro android device. I have a fresh Android device 9 pie that can even load this. All my another celestron apks work ok on this and my old Z max as well. Not worth the tome to download and install.

Master Blaster: Seems to be an unusually accurate apk! I don't have their fresh StarSense scope but it seems to be an upgraded ver of my Omni XLT 102 AZ. Without their fresh upgraded AZ Mount this apk is very limited. It would be nice if they sold the Mount/Tripod itself to use with Celestron scopes you already have. I have 3 Omni AZ mounts, which is the best lightweight Alt/Az mounts of it's type (especially when tweaked) and would gladly replace them with a couple of these fresh StarSense Mount/Tripods.

Greg Kopanczyk: So disappointed. It doesn't work. As soon as I am trying to begin it crashes. Some map blinks for half a second. I'm suppose to be prompted with a screen where I can input code but...... nothing. Can't use it retaining.
