The Apk uses pitches according to EQUAL TEMPERED SCALE and also allows player to create a USER SCALE by shifting the pitches in the range of +- 50 cents with respect to the ET. You can save the aroh and avroh made by you. In all the MANUAL MODES tap on "ON" Button to begin and tap on "OFF" button to enable the "EXIT" button. To exit from every dialog box you could first STOP PLAYING and press the EXIT button. This is important for the stability of the Apk. Player Scale applies on thaats. For Player Sequences/Raagas you can optionally apply it on Aroh and Avroh by checking/ unchecking the corresponding check boxes. THAATS: On the front page the tool deals with 24 thaats/scales.. There are two modes accessible namely AUTO and MANUAL . In the AUTO mode it plays by it self and in the manual mode the player can play from his finger. Tap on the "ON" button to begin playing and tap "OFF" button to enable the EXIT option. Select THAAT from the dropdown list and LOAD it. Change the pattern through the Pattern+ and Pattern- buttons and then SELECT it. The Base Key of the swarmandal can be tuned accurately at the Cents level. The tempo can be varied . For these use the Auto Settings button. This is possible in both Auto and Manual modes. . IMPORTANT FEATURE: One can also change the pitches of all the notes except for "Sa" shop and use them by checking the checkbox "Player Scale". As an example the "komal re","komal ga" and "komal dha" of Todi ,while ascending ,are slightly lowered and "Tivra Ma" is a tiny sharpened compared to their equal tempered counter part. While descending they are normal. You can view the notations of the patterns while not playing.. Select notes through "choose notes" and custom swara mandal will provide you three octaves of these notes. RAGAS: You can choose one from 106 (ONE HUNDRED AND SIX) ragas in 3 modes (106 x3 = 318)through Menu->Select Raga and play the manual forms via menu . For AUTO MODES tap on "Tap here for ragas". While not playing you can load your choice through "Load Raga" and choose one from "Up","Down" and "UpDown" modes. On the Raga Page , TAP AT A RAGA and the BUTTON "Load Raga". For player scale you can optionally check Shruti checkboxes. To compose your own aroh and avroh press the Compose Aroh button. Now you will see two sets of swaras. The upper set will have the aroh sequence (initially Sa Sa....). Now choose the first swar in the upper set. It will turn blue. Now from the lower set ,which has all the needed notes ,tap at your desired aroh swaras . They will be printed in the upper set and the selection will move ahead. After having completed your entry use the cells- button to reduce the cells so that they include only your swaras. Go back and repeat the same for avroh. Fix the gap in seconds between successive repeated sequences sequences using Gap+ and Gap-. Enter a name and save it. After this when ever you wish to use it go to Menu->Saved Raga Files. Download this file. The sequence will work every where. TO EXIT FROM THE USER SEQUENCE / RAGAS DIALOG BOX THE PLAYING SHOULD BE STOPPED. VERY IMPORTANT: To play sequence ONCE ONLY (when ever needed) in "Player Sequence" uncheck the looping checkbox. Hold the Gap > 10 sec. Tap on the "one shot" button when you need the sequence. If looping checkbox is checked the said button will be disabled. Jag Balaji: only a few ragas are accessible, and that too in the carnatic style, eg, it gives Dharmavati, but not Madhuvanti. Ragas like bhimpalasi are limited to the pre-set tune so the player is severely constrained. The developers say that the price is cheap, so we could not ask too much. It is better if they charged more and offered a quality product.
