  Pete R: The best feature of this apk is that you can highlight the latitude/longitude of a Bruce Trail parking lot in the apk and it automatically copies the place data to clipboard. Then you can paste the place into Google maps and your smartphone GPS will take you right to the trail head. This feature alone is worth the 20$. It even tells you if the parking is gratis or paid.

  Rob Hayward: Completed End to End I used the APP every day over the course of my 39 day hike and it proved to be invaluable. There are flaws it is not excellent but for me it was a very useful program. GPS locating worked 95 percent of the time all the method to Tobermory. Trail measuring proved to be bang on accurate. I would not attempt the End to End without this APP.

  A Google User: What a unbelievable resource! Thank you!!! The apk is polished and well designed. I've noticed a few tiny irritants, but I'm sure they'll be ironed out over time. Highly suggested!! Recommendations: entering/exiting full screen mode should be more obvious, clicking the scale works though. Hide the side buttons (except place) in full screen mode. Remove "The" from the app's name so it's listed under "B" in the apk menu rather than "T". Measuring distance between two points is awkward when there are multiple routes. Anything you can do to improve the speed of the apk would go a long method.

  A Google User: Very handy to have the map in the palm of my hand and showing me where I am, and have parking info accessible. It was a tiny slow on my smartphone until I changed to road map only (as opposed to the topographic map). Like another players I would love if there were mile markers provided and more info provided in the hike tracker (distance, time) as I currently have to use a separate apk for that.

  A Google User: Definitely worth using on a hike. Trouble on my Moto G 2nd generation - the apk won't agree GPS only mode, insists on data plan. I'm too cheap to have one so my work around is to begin and run Canada Maps concurrently and then the Bruce trail Apk is satisfied to perform as a piggy-back, probably uses additional battery life that method but so far fine for about 8 hours at a time.

  A Google User: Needs mile markers. Apk works well for what its for - to present the Bruce trail maps. However, a large missing feature in my opinion is the lack of mile markers. Those can be invaluable for setting up hikes and meeting points, and for quickly estimating distances. Another than that, no complaints.

  A Google User: Horribly, horribly slow. I downloaded all the maps and it still is so painfully slow to pinch and zoom. What gives? $20 for something as painful as this to use? Modernize: July, 2016. It is much smoother now. I have fun using it now and with the GPS tracking enabled, it really helps me to stay on the trail that I wish to be on.

  Mike McCulloch: Needs improvement It's cool that you can measure lengths of trail. That will be handy. And knowing where parking places are is good too. But, the tracking feature didn't work for me either in my first trial of the tool. It drew the black line all over the surrounding place, zig-zagging no where near the trail.

  Jonathan Fung: Updated after 16 months of use. About place tracking - it works only if place service is set to "high accuracy" mode on your device. Mobile data can be turned off to prevent data usage. If you save a track, it is a kmz file, but the apk does not assist you view it later. Test Google Earth or other apk to view these files for your hiking history. The apk gives you an up-to-date map of the entire Bruce Trail system - with re-routes and fresh trails included. I use it to ensure that I am on the trail, and to assist me receive back on track when I deviate. The apk has received absolutely zero enhancement since introduction, remaining primitive in hike planning and tracking functionality.

I think I still wish to load the paper maps to plan my hike. I don't like that the mile markers aren't on this!! If they were there I wouldn't have to pay for maps as well!

For the cash paid I was fairly disappointed. Coupled with the fact that I had to purchase the apk twice, once for an Apple device and once for an Android device device

  A Google User: Finally got it working on my Blackberry Passport!!! Works quite well there albeit sluggish. I didn't search the apk very useful. It is VERY sluggish. In comparison, to have the maps as pdf files is much more practical for me. There are so a lot of well marked side trails that it would be hard to receive lost just using the paper or pdf maps plus your built in GPS and Google Maps. Also, I can instantly see, at what mileage I am on regular maps. There are NO mileage points on this apk which is a large drawback. It drained the battery of my Nexus smartphone like crazy.

  asterias asterias: Some mixed opinions on the official Bruce Trail apk. It took a long time and a lot of mucking around to receive it to track place properly. The apk kept telling me to turn on place services when in fact it was on. Suddenly it started working mid-hike. When the smartphone is place in the pocket, it does not record a breadcrumb of your route. It draws straight lines connecting points when you latest had the map begin. I was under the impression that it would properly record your track. Also, a lot of side trails of Rattlesnake Point and Crawford Lake weren't marked on the map. What seemed to be a easy loop actually had multiple trail paths - I assume all the another maps are missing side trails as well. Those side trails would come in handy for dozens or for taking shortcuts. What I did like was the ability to quickly measure trail distances. What would be nice would be marked sections indicating distance and travel time, just like how Jeff's Maps are done for Algonquin Park. The camera did not work in apk at all. It would have been nice to see a collection of images properly geotagged on the map. It would be cool if geographic and historical notes were provided, or have crowdsourced photos/stories/notes from another hikers to share detours or points of interest. On the whole, it is a promising apk but it should use some improvements. It's worth it when it is on sale (usually half priced at $10 in April). Have you tried the apk? If so what are your thoughts?

Cseh: I would give 5 stars if the apk were reliable So often it stops recording , and then resumes much later in the hike .. my guess is that relies on cell availability which it could not for GPS recording. And most of the time the apk seems to freeze when starting but it eventually comes back to life. Such a shame .. having current maps and being able to confirm you are in the right place would be so good.

I tried to find for the Hermitage in Dundas Valley and it took me to Fresh York. Very disappointing. For now I will stick with my hard copies.

  A Google User: Four months later and still slow slow slow I'm a card carrying member of the Bruce Trail Conservancy. I wish to love this map. But it's just terrible to use. It's too slow. There's large amounts of lag scrolling or zooming, it frequently redraws, doesn't answer to touches and hangs. I think it's waiting for data and I'm on a slow connection, but here's the thing: I'M ON THE TRAIL. Drag your devs out to the trail and allow them feel the pain. Until then, I'm still using my scans. (FYI running a OnePlus One so got enough CPU and ram)

  Greg Hopkins: Measuring function needs work Dropping pins to measure distance is an exercise in frustration. Seem to have to press 10 times to receive pin placed and then it's not exactly where you wanted it. Measuring is a 4 step process which seems inefficient... Choose ruler... Put pin 1... Put pin 2...click measure once more.

  Thomas C: I mainly use this apk to have mobile access to the maps. However, the hike recording functionality is completely broken. After tapping the footprint icon, then the plus icon, it just takes you back to the map screen and doesn't do anything. And it's not my device as I have television is trouble on both my s6 and s8. Please fix this or at the very least, begin source the apk so that I can fix it myself. I love hiking the Bruce Trail and as a mobile developer, I would gladly donate some of my spare time to improve the apk.

  Ian Coburn: EDIT: About 2 weeks into using this apk, and it won't even begin now. I have attempted clearing the cache etc. with no luck. The powerful point of the apk is really giving you the Bruce trail tutorial ebook on your smartphone, and tracking yourself on the trail. As far as it's logging and image features, they aren't very useful. I inspected the tracking on 3 trails and it didn't log properly, whereas other apk I was testing at the same time ran perfectly. I feel the apk is overpriced based on its feature set and awful UI. But I hike the Bruce trail a lot and I purchased it to help the development of the apk. From my testing so far, I would not rely on it as my basic navigation way while hiking though. I also would like to recommend a serious discount on this apk be accessible for people who have purchased the physical tutorial ebook. The cost is just plain gouging if you have bought the ebook as well.
