You can select your place to reduce the Tree List from 1100 to the actual number that grow there naturally. Follow the simple, step-by-step Tree Find process, and match characteristics of your tree to those on the apk. Choose the relevant tick-boxes and watch as the number in the Tree List reduce! Tree info are in artworks, photographs, maps and texts. The strong, rapid and highly intuitive find function provides the player with much more than just a keyword find and makes it possible to explore everything about South African trees. Once loaded using WiFi, no internet is required; but satellite coverage improves the experience. It has an inbuilt education system; based on clicking InfoHotSpots, for explanations about anything that is not clear. Icons and texts cover virtually every aspect of the App's functions. In addition the My Trees function allows you to add and list the names of your tree sightings. You can kind in notes and record GPS places. You can choose your basic and secondary language from Scientific, English or Afrikaans, but can find through the trees using any of the 11 South African languages. A glossary gives access to botanical words from/used in another more complex publications.

Once I got used to the interface I managed to ID 6 trees within half an hour with limited botanical knowledge. From there I've kept log of a number of trees I've identified through the sightings feature, which allows you to add images and notes to sightings... We'll done to the people involved in developing this apk!

I particularly like the fact that one can find in any of the 3 supported languages, without first having to set a language preference. A Google user: As much as I like the Apk, I spend time in places of Kruger with no cell reception. The apk works for a day or two and then comes up with a license problem and cannot use it anymore until you receive to a place with reception. Very frustrating.
