Transistor is a bare bones apk for listening to radio tools over the internet. The apk stores stations as files on your device's external storage. It currently understands streams encoded in MP3, AAC and Ogg/Opus(*). Important note: This is an apk of kind BYOS ("bring your own station"). It does not feature any type of built-in find option. You will have to manually add radio stations. Transistor is gratis tool. It is published under the MIT begin source license. You can search the code on GitHub (https://github.com/y20k/transistor). GitHub is also a awesome put to file bugs or even to contribute, if you are interested. + How to add a fresh radio station? The easiest method to add a fresh station is to find for streaming links and then select Transistor as a your default handler for those file types. You can also tap the (+) symbol in the top bar and paste in streaming links directly. Please note: Transistor does not feature any type of built-in find option. + How to play back a radio station? Tap the Play button ;). + How to stop playback? Tap the Stop button within the apk or on the notification - or just unplug your headphones. + How to begin the sleep timer? Tapping the Clock symbol in the stations detail screen starts a 15 min countdown after which Transistor stops playback. An extra tap adds 15 mins to the clock. Playback must be running to be able to activate the sleep timer. + How to put a station shortcut on the Home screen? The option to put a shortcut for a station on the Home screen can be accessed from the station's three dots menu. A tap on a shortcut will begin Transistor - playback will begin immediately. + How to rename or delete a station? The rename and delete options can be accessed both from the station's detail screen. Just tap on the three dots symbol. You can manage the list of stations also from a file browser (see next question). + Where does Transistor shop its stations? Transistor does not save its list of stations in a database. Instead it stores stations as m3u files on your device's external storage. Feel gratis to tinker with those files using the texteditor of your choice. The files are stored in /Android/data/org.y20k.transistor/files/Collection. + How do I backup and transfer my radio stations? Transistor supports Android device 6's Auto Backup feature. Radio stations are always backed up to your Google acc and will be restored at reinstall. On devices running on older versions of Android device you must manually save and restore the "Collection" folder. + Why does Transistor not have any setting? There is nothing to be set ;). Transistor is a very easy apk. Depending on your point of view "easy" is either good or lame. + Which Permissions does Transistor need? Permission "INSTALL_SHORTCUT" and "UNINSTALL_SHORTCUT" This permission is required to install and uninstall radio station shortcuts on the Android device Home screen. Permission "INTERNET" Transistor streams radio stations over the internet. Permission "READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" Transistor needs access to photos, images and documents to be able to customize radio station icons and to able to begin locally saved playlist files. Permission "VIBRATE" Tapping and holding a radio station will toggle a little vibration. Permission "WAKE_LOCK" During Playback Transistor acquires a so called partial wake lock. That prevents the Android device system to stop playback for power saving reasons. (*) Opus playback is only supported on devices running Android device 5.0+

Romeo Balita Jr.: Good! Just what I am looking for. Thank you for creating this easy, lightweight yet so strong radio apk. The only thing missing for me is the "Sleep timer" feature. And create this accessible to run in the background even after closing the apk in latest list.

Paul Werner: Good begin source, gratis, easy radio apk. It totally replaced TuneIn Radio for me as all I need is a easy method to play a stream (I only listen to one station in the vehicle). I also love that it uses Android device 6's backup feature. All devs need to receive on board with that. I only have a couple recommendations 1) A method to have it auto connect/disconnect on bluetooth. 2) A setting to pause playback when navigation gives directions (I listen to talk radio mostly & pausing would assist to not miss things)

Joel Victoria: Assist I have a .m3u file in my smartphone but i cant begin it in transistor. *edit* I figured it out. I had to paste the .m3u file in android/data/org.y20k.transistor/files/collection folder. The apk works ok but I'm removing one star because I had to figure out how to create it work.

2007excalibur2007 `: It's a very neat apk, but streams hold dropping for me when my screen's off. Maybe add a setting to adjust the amount of seconds to prebuffer before the stream starts? Would be useful. c:

Matt Smith: Does what it says, but even minimal functionality could be better 1. If you leave currently playing station screen, control is lost - have to reset a steam and then can stop it. Constantly available controls would be awesome. 2. No (direct) method to edit URL if mis-typed - must reenter entire URL. 3. Default name cuts off IP/URL so related names can be difficult to distinguish - must rename immediately to distinguish (or edit pls/m3u files directly). 4. Biggie for me personally: no AAC help.

Nadeem Rizvi: Useless apk So we can use this apk only if we have a link to a radio, why developers didn't think if I have a link I don't need any apk I can play it. There are hundreds of thousands of gratis links why can't you add those, at least you should've provided few links.
