Alerts/notifications are good because you are immediately aware of your favorite or want list beers being accessible in your place. Has a awesome social aspect to it as you can "mate" another people's profiles and see what they're drinking. Very customizable with the lists function and generally just a good method to be able to be sure if you did test a particular beer before and if it was any awesome.
